How do you disasemble the CZ factory 25 round 9mm mags? Can I run the mag without the rubber piece of junk? It looks like it's just slipped on. Is there a aftermarket follower that adds capacity? Will the CPMI follower work? Sorry I got a whole much of qestions. I figure it is better to ask before I do any damage to my mags.

OK I got impatiant. Ran the mag under hot water and pulled off that stupid rubber pad with some pliars. Added a CPMI baspad and the capacity is up to 28. I think if I work on the follower I might get an extra 2 rounds. I'm going to run the mag this weekend after my IPSC match to see if it feeds reliably.

I'm feeling confident in the CZ factory 25 rounders with the CPMI +3 basepads. I ran them after a match and they feed well. I hammered on the stock trigger of my CZ 75sa and they feed flawlessly. I then tried them in elsolo's CZ with a better trigger.

elsolo commented on the ugly weld where CZ attached a bottom portion on a 2nd mag to add capacity. This seam is hidden by the rubber grip they add around the mag. As far as I'm concerend it is cosmetic as the mag feed well and the seem is not visable when inserted in the gun.

Short story I think these mags with cpmi extensions will run. I'm going to dremel on some followers to see what that does. Will report back on monday after the local ipsc and steel matches.

Exciting update.

Did some follower tweaks. If you take a meggar follower (has a post in the middle and front and back legs, current cz factory follower only has front and back legs with no post) cut off the back leg and insert into factory 25 round mag with cpmi +3 basepad you get 35 rounds!

Of course I have to test how well they run. The mag is a lot longer than 170mm so it won't be uspsa/ipsc legal. Still it's going to be an advantage for local steel matches.

The meggar high cap mags with said back leg cut off hold 20 rounds.

The factory CZ followers cannot be moddified in such a manner. I tried rounding off the corners of the front and back legs and it still would not work. I think the back leg hangs up on the CPMI +3 basepad.

Next I'm going to try some of those CPMI witness followers with a glock mag spring. Might be good for a extra round or two.

Thanks for the info...

I just got my CZ mag...and have been working to make it 170mm USPSA legal...

think I got it figured out..

I tried a standard length extra power wolffe spring..without a tweaking the follower I got 28 easily in the mag..that cycled through my SP01..I'd like to get a slightly longer spring into it, possibly shorten the follower..

I have to shorten the rear end of the mag slightly which should not be a big deal..and if I can get to run 27-29 rounds..this will be great...

Here it is..I shortened the back end..so it fits the gauge..using a wolffe spring and the factory follower..I can get 28 rounds in that cycle through my SP01..
I need to get hold of some followers and long magsprings so I can get the right combo together...

and then I just need to build an USPSA/IPSC open gun..

I called cpmi and they say they may have followers in a few weeks. I'll keep everyone updated. The followers will be like $12 each though.

It is almost easier to just buy a meggar high cap and use that follower with the back leg cut off. They are $20 and you get a extra 16 round tube.
