CZ 97 B for IDPA
« on: November 13, 2003, 10:12:56 PM »
I would like to know if anyone has or is using a 97B in the IDPA shoots?  If some one is I would like to hear the good, bad, and ugly about using this pistol to shoot in the IDPA.

I shoot mine very well and plan on using it when I get started so any suggestions would be most appreciated.  I also reload and would like to know if anyone has a good load for a 200gr. LSWC.  Thanks!

You don't see many (any) CZ-97Bs in IDPA yet, but there arent' that many guys shooting CZ-75Bs (or their variants), either.   CZs are still being discovered...

You also have the option of shooting in Custom Defensive Pistol against the custom 1911s, starting cocked and locked, or just shooting in Stock Service Pistol, hammer down.  I like that versatility.

If you've already got an IDPA-approved holster (or one of a similar style) there's no reason NOT to do IDPA with a 97B.

FEG can help with handloads... He'll probably chime in later today.

Walt,

I down loaded the qualification sheet and I have a question.  How exactly do you determine what your score is?  I mean what is the formula?  Sorry if this is a dumb question!

You take your raw time for each stage and add to it the points down for less that -0 hits.

(A shot in the center circle or the head is no points down [-0] ; a shot thats in the area surrounding the center area [circle] is down one; the next area outwards is down 3.  Misses are down 5.)  The sample target in the rule book shows these areas.  You can also be penalized for not getting at least 4 points on the target (i.e., a failure to neutralize.)  If you only hit one shot in the -3 area, you'd have 2 points -- and a "failure to neutralize penalty" on top of the other points down for missing.

Add all your points down together, multiply by .5 and add it to your time, and that's your stage total.

In a match, you can also be penalized for doing things wroing (procedural errors), for hitting a hostage, or for bad sportsmanship.  Penalties don't get multiplied by .5.

Use a light round it saves a pounding, you will be shooting 90 rounds in a qualifier.

Use a light round, but be sure its not too light -- or you won't meet power factor and will not be classified.  (The rule book explains power factor.)  If you're shooting factory ammo, you'll be OK.  And the 97B is not a punishing gun to shoot...
