For those looking for a drop holster or thigh holster for the P-01...
I tried every Serpa yesterday and the best fit was the G19 model. This serpa would need to be very slightly trimmed were the P-01 slide release contacts the holster. The fit was snug but the mechanical retention thingy worked well. I have some new rub marks on my frame from trying so many holsters
. If your thinking about the Serpa, it's the G19 model that fits best so you don't try all the others and scratch your gun like I did.
I ended up buying an older model Blackhawk Omega "universal" type drop holster. I adjusted it for the P-01 and it's pretty decent. I can get a full grip on the gun and then release the thumb strap so draws feel very confident. Only drawback is that it doesn't reholster as simply as the serpa because you have to manually snap the thumb strap. Last night I managed to resnap it with one hand. With more practice it won't be an issue.
It's also has a very clever "security" strap that prevents accidental release of the thumb strap plus another optional very basic strap that positively secures the gun for even the most extreme activity such as parachute jumping. I like this holster because it will also fit my 1911, SP-01, Sig's, etc.
Price was about $68 after tax. The G19 Serpa with the drop/thigh "kit" would have cost me $120. On-line pricing with shipping would have been slightly less but I spent about 2 hours with the employee trying every holster they had so I feel they earned every penny!
