Just a paragraph and I'll let you gear guys get back to your stainless steel slotted-head grip screws and warped guide rods.
I went to the range last night with my P-01 and shot a series of little scenarios with three other guys. Two had 1911s; one had a Hi-Power. My Minked CZ performed flawlessly. I shot less than flawlessly but okay. When I'd draw my gun, its grip would fit my hand perfectly. When I'd bring it up to eye-level, it'd somehow be pointed at the target and the sights would be nearly aligned. When I'd do my part with the sights and trigger, it'd make holes in a smallish cluster in the target - just where I wanted them to be.
I never noticed the trigger; that's how good it is. At the range, I don't notice the difference between the decocked first round and the subsequent ones. I know people say it takes forever to master the two somewhat different trigger pulls, but to me it's a non-issue. When I draw the gun, it's ready to shoot. I do not have to remember anything. One of the 1911 shooters was engaging his safety during reloads and defended the practice. I thought, how nice not to have to deal with any of that. I deal with the decocker - after I'm done shooting, when the pressure's off.
I suppose I'm writing this for newbies who check out this forum, still undecided if they want a P-01 or another CZ or a single-action or...something else. I love my 1911 and I love my revolvers, but for ergonomics and reliability and accuracy and reasonableness of price, I don't believe you can beat a P-01. Can I get an amen?
