This thread is 6+ years old, but you have NOTHING to worry about.  The Custom Shop is great to work with, and you can always still use your .40 barrel in the gun.

Hello All,
Is there anyone that has done this recently or has any information on this. I would love to add a 357 sig cal CZ to my family instead of bring in one of those other pistols that shoot the same round. ;-) I am becoming a CZ Snob, but in a nice way. It all good if you like that other stuff. I prefer what I prefer.

Thanks,

I just made a 357 SIG barrel for my P-06 this last week.
I test fired it Saturday.
I did go to gunsmithing school 30 years ago so I am a bit above amateur, but it wasn't too hard.
I was able to do the work on my beat up old Atlas 12" lathe, with a 4 jaw chuck..

I started with a 9mm barrel for the P-01 or PCR.
I got the chamber reamer from Brownells on sale for $60 and the Go/No-Go gauges from Manson for $30 each.
You have to be very careful when reaming the chamber.
It is very very easy to go too deep and destroy your barrel.
To get close on the lathe I measured how far a 40 S&W cartridge stuck out of the breach end of it's barrel and used that as a target for my barrel.
Once I was getting close a had to pull the barrel from the lathe, assemble the gun and try the Go gauge.
The 3rd time it locked up perfectly.

The trick to using a 9mm barrel is silver soldering on a collar to index on the larger barrel bushing on the P-06 slide.
The 9mm barrel is 0.500" OD exactly, while the 40 S&W barrel measured at 0.544".
I wanted to see how tight I could get the barrel to the 0.552"ID bushing so I made it too tight and them stepped it down gently until it fit perfectly at 0.549".
The collar is 0.675" long and tapers to the muzzle.

The only issue I had at the test fire was the Speer Lawman 357 SIG ammo was a tiny bit too long for the CZ mag and tended to drag it's nose as it fed.
This led to many jams until I learned to make sure I seated the ammo all the way in each time, then it fed fine.
I will be hand loading for this and can manage my OAL precisely.
Recoil was about 10% stronger than 40 S&W from the same gun.
Accuracy was stellar.
I'll try a stronger Wolff spring to see if it cycles a little smoother.

Overall I am very pleased with the outcome.

Interesting approach. CZ Custom uses an SP-01 9mm barrel and fits it by removing the extra lug and cutting to length.

I just noticed this thread (I'm a noob here) but I'm a big proponent of the 357 Sig cartridge. I have Glocks and SIG-Sauers that shoot it and would love to have a CZ that did, too. Not that there's anything wrong with 9mm, but it's always nice to bring a little more power to the party.

Now is this a unicorn item, or is it actually available for sale somewhere?

I would like to shoot a 357sig.

I haven't shot my M&P FS .357 SIG in a couple years.  However, last time I did (still just shooting it to make sure it was going to keep working - functioning issues - timing and sear bounce - that were tough to diagnose and not to hard to fix - but unsure they'll stay fixed, so I don't rely on it) I put about 150 rounds through it.

Then I got my new P09 9MM out and we started to shoot it.  How did shooting the P09 9MM "feel" after shooting the .357 SIG?  I knew the 9MM was firing.  I could hear it.  I could see the bullet holes in the paper.  I could see the empty cases on the ground to my left.  But the recoil was so light I kept looking at the first 3 indicators to assure myself the P09 was really firing.  It felt like shooting a darn .22, almost.

I will, someday, have a reliable and accurate .357 SIG.  My Glock and M&P don't meet both of those criteria and reside in a my gun safe these days.  I've got a P09 .40 S&W I keep thinking about sending in to get a .357 SIG barrel chambered/fit to the slide.  We'll see.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

IF anyone EVER figures out where to get a .357sig barrel for a P06, PLEASE let me know!   That's my preferred round. :-)

My .357 Sig is a Sig Sauer P226 Legion.  I didn't expect CZ to ever come out with anything in that caliber.

A side bonus is that by simply swapping barrels ($295 from Sig) it also fires .40 S&W.

CZ Custom (Stuart et al.) can do the conversion, but you must provide the P06. (they can do it on an SP01 .40 cal as well). They should be able to provide the necessary 9mm barrel, convert it to .357 Sig, and fit it to your slide.
