My check book is out. My ballpoint pen has been clicked. All they have to do now is release a stainless and they can have my money!

97BD thoughts:

I know someone else is thinking this I might as well say it.
De-cocker: Love it or hate it it still shows CZ's desire to emerge as a major US dealer by offering more options.

Tritium sights: Whether they're dots, bars, Heinie straight 8s, or Golf Ball on Tee (XS) they should be OEM

Rubber Grips: Not G-10s, like Mil-Tacs, but better than Plastic or Wood.

New Trigger Shape: I felt on of these at SHOT. It's a good compromise for those of us without Monster Mitts. It was a great modification for the P-01, P-06, and the SP-01.

Magazine Brake: The example I saw had the Magazine Brake function negated/removed. (simple mod)

Sounds like I'm in love...not quite. WHERE'S THE RAIL?????? A Picatinny Rail would make this an ideal entry sidearm. 10 rounds, accurate as my Custom Springfield 1911 (why did I pay all that green? )
Lastly, when will one be available for purchase. Remember, Ruger's Super Blackhawk, S&W 629, SIG P-220 ad infinitum. I call this Floating Beta Testing. Run it up the flag pole and see if someone salutes.

I like the decocker option, perhaps because I have a P-01, and don't own any other semi-auto handguns. I feel that the decocker is a very safe system, and I love the fact that all I would have to do, in a "life or death" situation, is pull the trigger - no fiddling around with a safety, etc. I would love to purchase a 97-BD.

Yea--the P01 is the first gun I've owned that has a decocker and I really like that option.I was going to get a 97B but I am now planning on getting a 97BD in the next month or so. I need to start checking the local GS to see who has one.

Howdy, I'm a new guy.? I checked out a 97 BD in the gun shop the other day and fell in love with it.? It fit my large hand like a glove and felt well balanced.? And I appreciate its heft, as it will buffer the recoil.? I know others have complained of trigger creep in the 97's, but I felt none in that sample.? The trigger was smooth and crisp with about a four pound or so break--perfect.? I can't wait to try out a rented one at the range, as I'm all but sold already.  If they come out with a stainless steel version, I'll cherish it all the more.  D45?

Not having owned any other semiauto pistols besides the P01, I only have experience with a decocker.

It makes a lot of sense to me.

I like the "ready for immediate use part", understanding that a heavier DA trigger pull is required.

A decocked pistol may not be as safe as a locked-with-safety pistol, but I'd hate to get shot while trying to release the safety when I could already have gotten a shot off with the decock-equipped pistol.

If I had to go to war with just a pistol (may it never be!), and was offered a safety versus a decocker, I would pick the decocker.

It just depends on what you like to shoot,  and the different circumstances in which the pistol is used for.  I have a 75D compact, and it's just something you get used to (maybe).  :-\

I think the 97 BD was bound to be released by CZ at one time or another. This is what makes CZ so great. They are always improving their line of guns. As for me I like a decocker, and I also like a standard safety.

I've modified my point of view on this.  It's a matter of what you train with and are proficient/comfortable with.  Experienced and committed shooters can master all types of safety mechanisms.

A serious question; I'm not trying to agitate anyone.

Would a fan of the manual safety please tell me why they prefer that configuration and so oppose the decocker. Always hear that someone prefers one over the other but rarely hear the why.

Thanks.

Personally I prefer a manual safety/cocked and locked s.a. weapon because I want the same trigger action for every shot.

I understand that with adequate training and practice that first d.a. shot becomes second nature for many shooters and, if they like that method, good for them but I'll stick with the tried and true s.a. manual safety.  I'm a sport shooter and do not regularly carry a weapon for defense.

My gun dealer tells me not to worry about shooting lefty in terms of ambi controls.  I'm
a new lefty, used to be a righty.  Can the 97 be made lefty?  If not, how big a deal
is it to shoot the 97 lefty?
