CZ Competition Sights on Kadet?
« on: October 02, 2008, 06:45:40 PM »
I'm shooting my Kadet more on my SP-01 than I used to and I hate the LPA Kadet sights, I'm just too used to my CZ Competition sights (fiber optic front) that are on my SP-01.  Will the CZ comp sights fit the dovetails of the Kadet slide?

I've also been tempted to get a Doctor or JP sight mini red dot to melt into the slide.

the comp sight will fit the dovetail..I think the trouble I had was I couldn't find a front sight tall enough..but I did not try a TS sight either..
I ended going with a red dot.

Well...having a front site that is to low doesn't do me any good for practicing.  Do you think the Tactical Sport 7.5mm high front post would be close to the right height for the CZ comp rear on a Kadet?

You went with a large red dot site, I haven't seen any pics of a small JPoint or Doctor red dot on a CZ.  Have you seen one mounted up before?

One more question, who makes slide rackers for pistols?  I was thinking of drilling and threading my Kadet to install a small slide racker to make it easier and faster to rack.  Thanks Stuart.

I think the TS sight might be..

I am hoping to go to a Burris fastfire for my rail..as soon as I save up some $$, but dang these bills..

I have only seen one kadet with a slide racker..it was a small knob that was attached to the reciprocating slide portion..not sure who made it..but a good gunsmith should be able to fabricate something

Mine has a slide racker...

Two small knobs that protrude from the side of the reciprocating part of the slide.  I purchased this Kadet like it is, but I'm thinking Matt Mink was the one to do it.  He did the rest of the gun....

Terrible picture I know...  Let me know if you'd like me to snap some better ones.

ran another brick of ammo through my Kadet today and I officially hate the stock adjustable sights.  I'm going to order a 7.5mm front site and CZ competition rear for my Kadet.  Hopefully if the front sight is too high, i can just trim it, if it is too short, I'm screwed.

Well...Angus says a 5.5mm high front site is what is needed with a CZ Competition rear sight.  Is that correct?  I guess it could be because the stock adjustable sights are higher than usual?

my experience was when I installed the CZ comp rear and the comp plain black front sight..I was high..I ended up lowering the blade on the rear sight and recutting the notch to get it to POA/POI

When you way you were high, you mean front sight height was too high or point of impact was high?

I don't want to order the wrong front sight, but I'm getting 2 different answers.  I want to use the fiber optic so i need to choose 5.5, 6.5, or 7.5mm high.  After my match this Saturday, I may just take the sights off my SP-01 to try out the Kadet to see what is really needed.

So, you had to trim the rear site to match the full front?  The full front site must be more than 7.5mm high.  Now I'm more confused as to the parts I need.

Just called Angus' shop and she says that 6.5mm front is what is needed.  We'll see.

I had pulled the comp front sight off one of my SP01s that was matched to a comp rear sight.
I installed a new comp rear sight and this front sight on my Kadet as like you..hate the adjustable rear.

I found my POI was high and I ended up modifying my rear sight to make it work.

tell you what...if you are getting the 6.5mm 1mm FO front sight..and it doesn't shoot right..let me know..I may have a need for a front sight.

Hiya pauli62 and thanks for your thread, sorry they left ya hanging for 10 years, but Stewart since that time left Colorado and been at cz custom, you can email him from the website or pm him from here to see what her decided. A few years after that post I asked him to put the fiber optic 1mm on my Kadet kit, 75b frame, he mentioned that he needed to raise the rear blade a little to zero it, adjusting for the height of the fiber optic. I picked green,it worked out great, and completed all my mods done, welcome to see mt 2012 posts for the visual. Be well.
