86 pre B production class
« on: October 25, 2008, 11:50:05 AM »
Hi guys here is my Pre B I got it in 1989. From a guy up in thunder bay ontario.
I believe Lever Arms in BC was the original importer but it is not marked anywhere.
One question my barrel appears to stainless steel is that normal? or is it hard chrome? What color are they normally?

I had Rodger Kotanko(canadian CZ specialist) mill and install bo mar adjustable sight and a custom made  front sight. Also he did my trigger job (breaks at 2.25 lbs)

It is very accurate especially with my reloads of 5.3 grains AAno7 and a .358 147g semi wad.
I want to eventually use guncoat or duracoat on it.But after 4 years in the white and not one spot rust I'm in no hurry.

I did the rest of work on it myself including.

Bobbing and checkering the hammer.
Removing the epoxy finish and polishing to the white.
Action job. All internals polished
Enlarged ejection port.
Set screw trigger stop.
Reshaped beavertail for a deeper grip in hand.

beautiful pistol, but I have to be honest, it pains me a little to a semi-rare classic CZ with modifications to the original frame.  Maybe they are not as rare as I thought?

Thanks ,I understand what you are saying. But I have owned it for 17 years now and it has always been a shooter not an investment. My serial number for slide does not match frame due to milling machine malfunction that destroyed my original slide so it's is not that collectible.
Although I do have the original box and contents.  I will NEVER sell my cz:))
When I bought this pistol the berlin wall was still in use...

Wow, that looks really sharp! The milling that was done for the rear sight makes it look like the pistol came with it. And, of course, removing that old enamel finish is a real improvement, too. As for importer markings, I saw a bunch of 1980's-vintage Pre-B's around here back then (I even owned one for a half dozen years or so) and never saw any markings. It was maybe more of a US thing, maybe?
