Its not my day
« on: November 07, 2008, 01:53:29 PM »
Well in the last 24 hours 2 of my carry guns have broken on me, right after I carried it! I'll stick to the CZ for this story, my trigger return spring has broken. I'm completely heart broken as my CZ as more rounds than any of my guns and has always been 100% so I never hesitate to go to it for carrying.

Anyways, can someone tell me if this is something an average joe should try to replace or leave it to the gunsmith? If I can do it, where can I get the part?

Much thanks,
Matthew

the part can be ordered from CZ-USA or Angus at ghostholster.
if you have been inside your CZ before...it takes about 20 minutes to change. if you haven't been inside...it can be a very frustrating experience.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck.  Just curious, about how many rounds do you have through your CZ with the broken spring?

You know what it is? I was thinking earlier about ordering new aluminum grips from Ghost Products. And now they conveniently sell the return spring I need? Obviously this is my CZ's way of telling me it wants new clothes :-P

The CZ was my first pistol that I picked up when I was 17 (dad purchased it of course) in 2002. I did not keep a log of rounds, however I would suppose it has anywhere from 2500-3000 rounds through it. I also regularly dry fire (with a snap cap) so there are several more trigger pulls than that.

You can do the return spring yourself -- its relatively easy with a non-decocker CZ.  Check our FAQ area, as I think a how-to procedure might be found there (maybe as part of the trigger job write-up.)

Just replaced the trigger return spring on my Shadow. Was quite a simple & liberating experience, but daunting prior to starting. I found it handy to have another gun to compare, & the forum is always there for further assistance. Do it! Just be careful not to lose parts.

Cheers, Ando.
