Fixed Extractions But Now It Won't Feed!

I was having intermittent extraction issues on a 9mm CZ75B purchased new by me.  I averaged one failure to extract on two range visits.  I swapped out the extractor spring for a Wolff Extra Power extractor spring as per the instructions on this site and help provided by members.

Today at the range all round extracted fine but I had multiple failures to feed.  Using Winchester SaverPack FMJ, the first 45 rounds out of three mags worked flawlessly.  The problems started with the 4th mag, I couldn't get the round to feed either working the slide fast or using the sling shot method.  I tried another mag and had the same problem.  A third mag loaded fine and the rest of the rounds fed without any issues from all 3 mags.

When I switched over to Remington UMC FMJ the problems started again.  This time rounds wouldn't feed from any of the three mags.  When I finally got the rounds to feed so I could fire the pistol, the subsequent rounds would fail to feed.  I had multiple problems and I finally gave up after firing 32 rounds.

I'm certain that I installed the extractor spring properly.  What could be causing the problem?

possibly now too much tension on the extractor..so much that the feeding round can't feed up under the extractor because the spring is too strong, too long, etc.
this can also happen if you get gunk up in there..and extractor cannot move.

I tried some snap caps and they and extract fine.  I don't know if that matters.

Without a mag inserted, if I pull the slide back about 1/2 inch it feels as if something's blocking the full travel of the slide.  I need to give it an extra tug to get the slide to travel all the way to the rear.  I don't know if this is normal or if it might be related to the failure to feed issue.

usually that feel is the slide..dropping the barrel out of lockup or pushing down the trigger bar as is slide rearward..

if the failure happens right where the round is coming under the extractor..it might be the tension..other than that..when the failure happens..take a look and see where the round is contracting..in front, the case head, and coming out of the mag.

The round rides about half way the feed ramp, then it jams at an angle.  I can't tell whether the round is behind or in front of the extractor.  The round is definitely at an angle partly between the mag and the feed ramp in the typical failure to feed position.

You called it.  I installed the original spring and problem solved.

A weak recoil spring could contribute to this.  A new one might have taken care of the problem.  I noticed that under the same circumstances (trying to fix rare FTEs).

One time, when ordering Wolff extra power extractor spring 3-pk for CZ-75B's, they sent me the wrong springs but the packaging said CZ-75.

I would compare the stock to the Wolff, count coils, figure the fully compressed height, check OD, etc.

I have also experienced several CZ's that had a rather sharp corner opposite the extractor that would snag the rim of the cartridges on their way up the breechface. If that is the case, carefully break that edge, just a very light deburring.
