Which finish is which?
« on: January 01, 2009, 07:11:14 PM »
Hello All and Happy New Year!

I am interested in getting a CZ 75b in either satin nickel or stainless matte.  I have looked at different online sites but don't know which finish is which (some sites show what looks like the same picture for the different finishes).  I've attached a couple pics, can someone tell me which finish is which?

Thank you for the responses!

The 1st pistol is a high gloss stainless & the 2nd is a matte; neither is nickel, both stainless guns have the same stock number.

The matte stainless is no longer in production.

Here's a CZ-75B in Nickel...

Notice the color of the controls? The hammer, mag release, slide stop, safety etc

The grips are plastic, not rubber

The safety is not ambidexterous

Get the stainless! I purchased one a few months ago & LOVE it. The fit & finish on these high polish stainless guns are absolutely fantastic. The tactile rubber grips feel great. CZ-USA provided the pistol with some Custom Shop options. They did an action job & installed Meprolite night sights. The trigger is reminiscent of a COLT Python; very sweet. I picked up a HIGH NOON "UnderArmor" shoulder rig & use it for concealed carry. Nice holsters & quite affordable. It fits my KADET as well. Get an upLULA or HKS loader & your thumbs will thank you. POA & POI are identical with 147gr WINCHESTER Black Talons. The pistol groups like a small carbine & is extremely controllable.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

The pictures in the opening posting are both of the stainless in the matte (frosted) finish.
For the pictures of the stainless in the polished finish, czeck out this thread(http://www.czforumsite.info/index.php?topic=20767.0) under the CZ75 Stainless club.
I have both and find the polished stainless the more seductive of the two.

CZ-75B matte stainless (discontinued)...  SKU: #01108

The two photos in the 1st post could be better; these should clarify the issue somewhat.

Thank you all for the replies.  I went to the Ft Worth Cabela's today and they did have a high gloss model on display ($595).  I am more partial to the Matte finish.  Does anyone know who might still be selling this model?

I may be out of the topic but why don't you try the standard polymer coating.  They say its really tough and once you've had a couple of thousands of rounds thru it, reputable gunsmithers will do any finish your taste.  Start with stainless and you might regret seeing fine line scratches to which it is susceptable too (specially if you are too careful with it - tendency is you'll mess it up) and end up not enjoying the pistol unless you want to keep it as collection item.

I purchased a Matte finish at the Cabela's in St. Louis about 4 mos. ago. You might just ask them to check their stock. When I bought mine, they had 2 or three prices for the stainless guns, so I asked to see the cheapest one. Matte stainless with rubber grips. It is my favorite CZ I own.

Matte Finish

My personal preference is the Matte finish. Although polished is nice, I just don't want the bling in a working pistol. ymmv   ;)
