CZ 85B SDN Mexico DF
« on: June 11, 2009, 03:27:36 PM »
Hello, everybody.  My first post here.  I just picked up my new CZ 85 and found SDN Mexico DF cut into the right side of the frame.  The pistol has a poly-coat finish and fixed night sights.  I assume that is a reference to the Mexican Defense Forces but I don't know why the pistol is being sold on the open market.  I'm thinking it might be an overrun or canceled contract??

This is my first experience with CZ and I'm solidly impressed.  I've always carried my 1911 45ACP cocked and locked and being able to do that with a 9mm is a new experience for me.  The safety wipes on & off just like my 1911 and the grip feels great.  The sights come up exactly where I'm pointing.  I think this is probably going to be a keeper, perhaps the first of family of CZs :)

*I just found out the the 'DF' stands for Federal District, not Defense Forces.

mtnwinds,

Welsome to the forum.
Interesting markings on your cZ.  I hope someone here will be able to answer your questions.  You are most probably correct in a couple of areas; your pistol is a keeper and it is the first of a family.

I think that you are probably right that the pistols are an overrun or canceled contract. When the 75B OMEGA first showed up here it was because they were either a canceled contract or an overrun for the Mexican Army.

Resurrected from the dead.

CZ Custom has new Kadet kits marked the same.

It is most likely a police pistol. Distrito Federal for the DF which would be Mexico City area. The Mexican army is referred to as Ejército Mexicano.
