2nd USPSA Shoot
« on: June 27, 2009, 11:14:31 PM »
Shot my second USPSA match today at USSA in Tulsa. About 104 degrees, but a good day. The USSA shooters and everyone on the squad was great with lots of tips.

Okay - what sicko devised the Texas Star? Six rounds took care of the first five steel....then completely blew the second star...oh well....more excuses to shoot more...darn ;)

I am having a Ball!

If you are a shooter and have not tried a local USPSA match - all I can say is you will not regret it. It takes shooting to a whole new level.

You won't regret it, but your bank account might.  ;)

The funny thing about that @^&% star is that it can put a frown on your face, but as soon as you talk to the other shooters it'll change to a big smile.

Find the STAR method that works best for you.  No motion or steady slow rotation.

It is fun.  If you can find a local USPSA 'League' you can shoot more often and get some good practice on things like the "Texas Star".

  Enjoy and be safe.

Yeah, I couldnt brave the heat, and decided against the drive over to Tulsa...so I slept in and then went to shoot a local sporting clays match. I was back under the air conditioning by 11.30am

Between OKC and Tulsa you can shoot a match of some sort every weekend.

CSM, if you dont already, you should frequent OKshooters.com

Glad ya had fun!

Looks like I'm on the same scheduled as CSM as I had my second shoot this weekend too in SC.  It wasn't 104, but it was pushing 95 and humid.  I had fun though.  The qualifer was TOUGH.  It was 99-14, Hoser Heaven....where you have to shoot 3 six shot strings: one Freehand, one Strong hand, and then one Weak hand, 5 seconds per string.  Needless to say, only got off 2 shots on the weak hand.  It was interesting, but would have been nicer to have something a little easier.

AntiChrome....we will link up at either Tulsa or OKC. I am taking the 4th off, but back at USSA for a lesson with Mike Seeklander on the 11th, then back up for the July match.

1SOW...the star gives me something to work on...that is a good thing.

gja70...glad to hear you had fun, too. Thanks for the post. Hmmmm.....timed weak hand....mine was similar, but easier, 3 targets x 2 rounds, reload, 6 more shots, then 3x 2 closer strong only, then closer with 3x2 weak only. It is the same as I shot the first time (and forgot strong ONLY) so it was nice for a "rematch". ;)

Looks like I need to incorporate a lot more weak hand and strong hand only into my practice drills (and lift weights with my "weak" hand)
