Something new/old
« on: November 02, 2009, 01:32:21 AM »
I had some Datrex lifeboat rations in the trunk of my car, and wanted to replace them. Found out, they are heat and cold resistant, and with a 5 year shelf life, mine had two years to go! I replaced them anyways, but one package has 18 bars, about 2 days of chow for two people, following the instructions printed on the package, in a small shrink wrapped blue package. I keep two of them in the Bugout Belt in one pouch, easy fit. No pics right now, but quite frankly, with as easy as these would be to stash, a couple in the trunk/behind the pickup seat might be a lifesaver someday. They are also designed to be low water use, no need to "wash them down". Haven't tried one yet, so I am repeating the company line, but now I have extras, I might have to pop one open and see!
Do not use if allergic to coconuts.
Just another option in a world going nuts.

I broke down, had to try these things, opened one of the old packages. They are tasty! One will actually make you feel full, too, so they are great for what they are. Nice to know they taste good, too.
