1st USPSA Match with my new SP-01
« on: November 22, 2009, 09:07:58 PM »
Gun- CZ75 SP-01 with 15lb main spring and 11lb recoil spring, using factory 9mm ammo.
Match started at 9am...Weather was nice and sunny, a little cool, and thankfully, no wind!!  (stupid Cali desert)
I took my time and really paid attention to my sights today, and surprise surprise, i hit a lot of alphas!  I think on the day I had 3 mikes, and 0 no shoots (my goal was 0 mikes and 0 no shoots, 1 out of 2 ain't bad.)
A lot of the stages focused on movement, which I really enjoyed.  I had two failure to feeds on the classifier (mini-mart), and it slowed me down horribly.  We shot that stage 4th, and before that, I had NO problems with the gun.
The next stage I had another failure to feed, but still managed to do alright with it.  It was a fun color-coordinated stage which I sucked at towards the beginning, and kicked it's butt at the end.  Lots of pepper poppers.
Last part of Stage 1

Overall I felt good about the gun, and I had a great time.  The standings weren't as good as I'd hoped, but hey, I've only been shooting for a month, and I have a cold!

Good job! I do miss shooting matches, we have none out here. Not that I was any GOOD at them! Did you figure out what the FTFs were caused by? Was it Winchester White Box ammo? Ramp polished? Please post more pics/video, love to watch it!

Sadly hubby and I ended up doing a lot of the scoring and RO'ing so we didn't get but 1 video each.  So that sucked.

I was using Fiocchi ammunition, which was nice to shoot.  I'm guessing the FTF was caused by mags that I didn't clean very well...

I had a lot of fun, and felt like I improved compared to the last match I shot.  So now I'm excited for the next match!

Back in the day when I worked at a gun shop, we had occaisional issues with Fiocchi brown box ammo, but not usually in CZs, with rounds not being quite in spec. That was 8 years ago, though.
Hopefully you'll have an even better run next time!

For the most part though, it shot really well.
I think our next match is a week from Saturday up in Bakersfield.  At least, I hope it is, if I have the cash flow to make it up there. (stupid economy)
I'll probably grab some more ammo tomorrow.  (We're gonna get reloading stuff when tax season comes around)

Results are up....overall I placed 15 out of 17....doesn't sound good.  But I am still improving.  Not bad for my 3rd match.
2nd out of 3 in Production....

You did great.
you made it through a match safely and you aren't at the bottom. Production is tough in the overall with the minor scoring, do don't use that as a marker of performance yet. Keep at it and you will find yourself climbing up the results soon.

Making  lots of ammo on a press will definitely help too.

My percentages went up from last time so i consider it a win.

Definitely gonna get reloading equipment when tax time comes around.

Shooting the .22 steel match on Sunday with a friend's .22 (the gun I used in my very first match!).  Should be interesting!
