Thank you kindly, Armoredman.  Glad to be here... this is a great forum!

Brie just hit the ground running in USPSA with that SP-01 of hers.  Another friend, an action shooter from back in the day, just got an an SP-01 for Production Division and is getting back into competing.  CZ fever is contagious!

Hail Caesar!

Didn't see the message about livefire practice til today...epic fail on my part.  My bad.
Hopefully if the stars align both me and that 1911 guy that I live with will be there on the 17th.

No rush on those books, take care of gettin all that debris put back together!  The kitchen looks fantastic!

I think I'm still planning on setting up a stage too...gotta call that son of yours.  :D
Have to drag mr 1911 too. (like I said, hopefully!!)

Is your buddy who got the SP-01 gonna be shooting that match too?

Hail Brie!

Hope to see you at Sage match on 17th.  Be sure to drag your hubby along.  I just shot with Hal Friday but forgot to remind him about the Sage match.  Will talk to him at work.

We try to shoot every weekend, out-of-town matches if we can afford it or livefire practice otherwise.  Call us if you want to go.

I know you are trying to learn how to set up stages... as a starting point I recommend you go online and find stage diagrams from major matches (nationals, area matches, sectionals) and classifiers to get ideas.  Check these links:
Major Matches
Classifier Diagrams
and of course you have to know the rules:

Thanks Caesar!  You know i'd love nothing more than to shoot every weekend...hopefully sometime soon I have the money so that we can afford to shoot at least twice a month.
Did you guys go to that Prado match?

Thanks for the links!

Didn't make Prado unfortunately... trying to conserve $$$ for some major matches later this year.

On the plus side we did shoot Friday with Hal.  Box to box drills, el pres, 6-reload-6, all the normal stuff.  Also shot my precision rifle and rang the gongs for fun.  As we were wrapping up, some of our friends in the Higway Patrol came over and invited us to join their night training session later that evening. We ran home, swapped our race gear for tactical gear and headed back to the range.

NOTE:  I am not a tactcool ninja or anything.  Just a middle-aged fat guy former Marine and his gun-gamer son. Back to the story...

We practiced identifying and engaging threats, target discrimination, open and obstructed movement... all in a low-light/no-light environment.  Nick used the CZ SP-01 for some of it, but also demo'd the stages with the STI open gun for some of the cops who had never seen one.  Pretty dang cool.

At the saloon structure, they pulled a patrol cars down to the front and had the lightbars running... put some flares at certain points around the structure, and had threats spread out everywhere.  JB (trainer) had us do scenarios from routine house clearing, stacked entry, and officer down.  Everyone ran through it a few times and got critiqued.  Learned lots and look forward to doing that again.

Sheesh, wish we had accessories like that back when I was running IDPA style matches at my indoor range - our cars were cardboard cutouts. That would be awesome, but I'd be terrified someone would put a bullet in the squad car - hard to explain...

Another match over....CZ ran flawlessly except for one mag not dropping free.  (grr.)
Results will be bad as all the problems were mine!!  Grr for rushing through and not finding the freakin front sight enough.

Will do better again next time.

Cool match.  Good job to you and your hubby for designing and building your first USPSA stage.  Can't wait to see the results to see which Hardwick won!  ;D

Well the results are in... Eric took 4 of 6 stages, you took 2 of 6. Still, a great showing from both of you.  Congrats on hanging in there on some tough stages!

I can live with two out of 6...and there was another stage he barely beat me on...I think it was the saloon.

Next match I will do better.
