Now that she has genuine CZ accessories, she will quickly climb the stats! It's great training and grand fun. I never placed very high in IDPA, either.

The stages were good and challenging, including the stage that Mr Hardwick set up.

I threw a few mikes, and maybe one or two no shoots...if any.

My EPIC FAIL of the day was failure to engage two targets on HIS freaking stage!  (I panicked on the texas star.  The last piece was moving and instead of engaging the two targets I spent the rest of my ammo trying to hit the stupid thing.)

Anyways, the point of this post is to say that I know the problems I had in the match, I rushed through, occasionally didn't make a plan for a couple stages, and occasionally stopped looking to my front sight.

I'm a work in progress. lol.

Don't forget, there are two objects to this exercise - train, and have fun, sounds like you're having a blast - pun intended. :)

I had an FTE on that stage too.  It happens to everyone sometime so don't kick yourself!

Suggestions:
  • Next time you have a star at the last position, consider shooting everything else first and saving the star for last.
  • In Brian's book, he defines awareness as observation without thought or judjment. Be "aware" of your shooting.  To be aware you cannot be judgmental.  Just learn and move on.
  • Don't tell yourself anything negative.  If you have to tell yourself anything, tell yourself that you are a master of awareness.
  • Read that book I gave you by Lanny Bassham.

Yeah, I had that plan for doing the star last, I just need to get better at sticking to my plan.

I'm liking the book so far.

I'm gettin better, this was just a small speed bump.  Back to the fast track to greatness! (lol)

Ok....match this weekend....I'm pretty much all set up with my rig...just waiting on my CR Speed Versa mag pouches.  Got my mec-gar mags today!! (I am SOO happy about this because my dad said they told him they wouldn't get here til Monday!)  Got my awesome CZ Range bag, my hat, my Angus shirt...I'm CZ pimped out...so to speak.  I even got my USPSA membership number!!
Oh wait, I'm waiting on my awesome red grips too.  Hopefully those will get here next week some time.
I'll probably be spending the vast majority of the afternoon and tomorrow practicing my draw off my new belt with my new holster.

As always, I will have a full report for you guys after the match Sunday!
I'm glad y'all are enjoying reading about my adventures into USPSA.  I am having an absolute blast with it!

Report for the day:
Conditions WIND WIND WIND.  sustained 25-40mph with several gusts up to 60mph.
Gun ran awesome with the new mec-gar mags, aweosme CR speed belt and holster.
I feel good about the match, even with the mikes and no shoots.  There was a stage that I could not hit the steal to save my life!  Took forever!!
I had some pretty decent solid stages as well though...one in particular I feel I nailed, even though I could've been faster.
My classifier was fairly solid too I think....even with a mike.

Will let you guys know when the results are posted.

Good time was had by all, even with the wind!

Nice job at this last match Brie  :)
You had a couple rough stages but were solid overall.  Really nice job on the screen house and the saloon.  I think 7 stages was a heavy day of shooting, especially in the wind.

On another note, you sure looked cool.  One of the newbs asked if you were sponsored by CZ.  You looked like a pro (like a BOSS) with all your cool new gear and wearing your CZ colors!

Yep the wind was a challenge.  But remember that we have a huge advantage BECAUSE we get to train in such awful weather.  Other shooters who train only in nice conditions will be caught by surprise when bad weather catches them at a big match (for example, when hurricane Gustav hit USPSA Nationals at USSA in Tulsa).

I'll try to get your videos posted this week.  Then we can relive the shenanigans on youtube all over again  :D
