Safety and hammer
« on: December 19, 2009, 10:18:27 AM »
For all you gun nuts out there who are enjoying your nifty PO-7 Duty guns, are you able to flip the safety to "On" without the hammer being cocked? I ask only because my 75B (.40) does not allow me to engage the safety unless the hammer is cocked.  Thanks!

Um.... no, but why would you want or need to?

Thanks for the reply, Smith.

With my current carry guns, ever since I have been carrying concealed, I have carried with the hammer down and the safety engaged.  In conjunction with that, I have trained myself many, many times to flip the safety off as I draw, and then fire with a DA pull of the trigger.  I prefer not to carry "cocked and locked", thus wondered about how the safety works on the PO-7.

I never tried it with my P07 when I had the safety installed, switched to decocker. 99% of CZs require the hammer to be cocked for the safety to be used, a military requirement.

YES,  only  Duty can do it.  SP-01 and 75B need to be cocked to engage the safety.
