Serial Numbers?
« on: May 18, 2003, 09:23:03 AM »
I would like to know approximately how old my CZ75 and CZ75 compact are.  I know absolutely nothing about CZs.  I came by them incidentally.  I really like them, but I don't understand all the numbers, i.e. 75, 75B, etc., and how to date them.  Is there some info available that I could get?  Thanks in advance.

Check out the FAQ area of this forum.   "Everything you wanted to know about Sex (urhh..) [I mean] CZs, but were afraid to ask" (to borrow a phrase from a book of the 70's.
The year of manufacture can generally be found in a small inset to the rear/left of the ejection port, on the right side of the gun.

I have a "Transitional CZ75" dated 92. The serial no. is L3030.
Has anyone come across any serial numbers like this.
Thanks

Interesting,, is that number on both the barrel and frame? A quick look through past posts and I see none showing a letter as part of the ser#. I may have missed it, or nobody has  ever mentioned it before...

Hi,
The serial number L3030 is on both the barrel and frame.
From the definitions on the forum my CZ must be a transitional model as the trigger guard and hammer are the same as the 75B but there is no firing pin block. Besides the date behind the ejection port is 92 and "Made in Czechoslovakia" and "MODEL 75 CAL. 9 PARA" are stamped on the frame.
I live in Israel so maybe this is some series that was marketed only in Europe and the Middle East.
Czech arms have been used here since pre-state days.

My '92-dated pre-B also has an alphanumeric serial number; K2820.

Maybe '92 was the year of alpha-numeric serial numbers.

Actually, the alpha-numeric numbers started to appear in late 1987 or early 1988.  I have a CZ75 with the serial number A41XX dated 1988 and a CZ75 with the serial number 1643XX dated 1987.
