Extended Safety fitted on my 97
« on: March 15, 2010, 12:40:31 AM »
I just got my firing pin block lifter bushing made and the extended safety fitted on my 97 tonight, I previously put a comp hammer and 13lb main spring in.  I absolutely love the trigger now, and manipulating the safety is a lot more pleasant now too.  I am still running the DA/SA trigger, I haven't converted it to SA and don't know if I will.

I fitted the majority on the sear then did the finishing touches on the safety.  I scribed a line on it then went to a frog hair before the line with the file, tried it and discovered the safety would engage on a cocked hammer, but if you took it back off you couldn't reengage it.  I cleaned up a touch more on the safety and it fits like a charm now.  The sear cage doesn't rock at all if the safety is on and you pull like hell on the trigger, nor does anything move if you try to engage the safety on a dropped hammer.

*Yes, that bushing is stainless*

And now to photos.

blh,

Excellent!!  I have a few questions and a few comments.  Do you like the new manual safety?  I thought about installing one on my 97 project pistol, but I have a Tactical Sport with this extended safety and I'm not that crazy about it.  Do you have to shift your thumb up before disengaging the extended safety?

I milled off the lifter "arms" that engage the FPB and reinstalled, but I really like your SS bushing.

You did exactly what I do by using the scribe line on the safety arm.  Works very well for me.

I do like the safety.  With my short fingers it makes it possible to manipulate it (in particular disengaging it) without having to move my hand.  I do have to move my thumb, but the rest of my hand can stay put, no more rocking the hand around the grip in order to use it.

Now I just need time to do the sights on it.

The Novak sight cut works well on CZ's.  I have one on my CZ-75/.40

New to the CZ 97. I am super curious about what exact extended safety that is. Did it take fitting? I have the CZ 97 B with manual safety.

It looks to be a CZ Customs part.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Yes that part it pretty clear to me. But they are not listed for a 87 B. So I wanna confirm what part it is so I can buy it.

This one will need to be trimmed  to be flush on the right side.

Thanks. Yeah I’ll call definitely. I’ll probably have them do the work since I’ll be sending it in anyway for trigger abd hamner etc etc.

Works well, you actuate it by rocking so your thumb stays on top.
