Because CZ churns out more 'police' pistols as aftermarket.  They are not really interested in doing market research to get to the public.  They seem to want to  sell what is in a sense 'surplus'. It is easier, and their guns still sell. 

OTOH, they would BLOW away SIG and others with a lightweight, accurate and reliable, slim, and ergonomic compact pistol.  Who would NOT want one with essentially a 1911 operating system?  But, that would require a slight mod to production that they are not willing to do. 

It's dumb - but it is easier.

I was JUST about to place my order for a P-01 when I saw this thread...

I am half tempted to wait for the P-02...but then again, this thread was started years ago and I have yet to see a single P-02 in stores.

Are they even available right now?

P-02 Omega is a wild goose chase. The P-02 is listed in the CZ-USA printed catalog but not listed on their website. A few have popped up here and there but I wouldn't hold out for one if you need a handgun right now. Go ahead and get the P-01 or if you want the Omega trigger get a P-07.

The P-02 could be great.  But, when is the last time anyone checked for availability?  More generally,
other than the trigger, what is the basis for choosing  among several CZ's 9 mm compacts?  I don't care
about the rail.  Main concern is reliability, but of course price and availability issues?  Not in a big hurry. 
Willing to wait a few months, but I'm not sure how to choose among the compacts.  Can orders be placed
for the P-02 now?  Am thinking that availability could go down after the election.  Appreciate any ideas
on how to make a decision.  Have the SP-01 and love it.  Looking for something slightly smaller and no
heavier.  Also considering the P-06.  Any thought on its recoil and reliability?

Since you are already familiar with the SP-01 (full size) the P-01 or P-06 (compact) would be a great choice.  8)

I think it is more that our import restrictions are a major headache for them. Also with the new BREN and Skorpion as well as the P-01 they are probably focusing more on domestic military contracts then exports.

I think its more of what CZ-UB is manufacturing and has available for import.
truthfully while the P02 is listed on the 2012 product list, did in fact CZUB actually make any, make enough and were they even available to CZ-USA.
