so far i have found a wealth of knowledge on this forum and am glad i found the forum. I shoot IDPA and IPSC style matches at a local club and for the last year and a half have been shooting a kimber tactical pro with the 4.25 In barrel in lim10 and either that gun or a H&K usp 40 compact for Idpa matches. I usually use the 1911 for 3 gun and steel as well. I shot a TS about 4 moths ago and decided that the next gun i buy would be a CZ TS or if i could find a good deal a SP01. I ended up getting a SP01 and have been shooting it for the last month.
so far the first thing i did was disassemble the whole gun and go through it and smooth everything out and get rid of what machining marks there were, the trigger went from stiff and a little gritty to super smooth. next i redesigned the trigger pin as i posted in another thread as the original pin was starting to walk on me when i would shoot a lot and the thought of hammering on my gun to flare the pin more had me worried.
so tonight i will order the comp hammer and the single action only trigger along with springs and a magwell and possibly some sights. but here is my question. has anyone gone to SA only on there gun and been happy with it? do i lose out on anything by not having the double action still on there?
my reasoning for this as well as having shot the 1911 kimber originally is due to having muscular dystrophy and having problems with strength in my trigger fingers. while i can still pull the DA trigger with my strong hand i cant budge the trigger in DA weak handed and there is usually quite a bit of that in the IDPA matches. I have no problem with the SA triggers as i can lighten them up and make them smooth to shoot but i cant seem to do it to a DA trigger enough while still having a gun that performs the way it needs to.
the second part to this is the sights on the gun, I bought the cz75 SP01 manuel safety model and it came with night sights. for the life of me i cant make these things work for me. it seems i have to place my front sight above my target to get the shot where i want it. Maybe im just used to my old sights or just need to shoot the gun more but i have put about 1300 rounds through it in about 16 days now and i cant work with the sights as they are. I planned on buying these:
but they are out of stock at the moment so what else would the comp shooters here suggest? hopefully there is an option that wont require modification to the guns slide but that works better for me then the current 3 dot night sights.
thanks again for all the help so far
