Slide interchangeability
« on: April 14, 2010, 05:13:43 PM »
I have an 85B (ambidextrous version of 75B). If I had a 75B compact, would the slides be interchangeable between the two frames? In effect, could I make four pistols out of these two: (1)-large frame - long slide (Full size); (2)-large frame - short slide (Semi-compact); (3)-small frame - short slide (Compact); and (4) small frame - long slide (illegitimate child).
If it is possible, are there any spring weight issues? What, if any, are the advantages and drawbacks to something like this?
Thanks,
Rock-it3

Should pretty much work. There could be some slight differences in fitting. I've done the slide/frame swapping dance without any problems.

I have swapped slides between a 75B and a 75 Compact.  I do not have an 85 ........ yet.

So if this works, it should theoretically also work between a full size 75b and a p01 as well, yes?  Or would it need to be a bd rather than a b?

Use my full size Nickle on my PCR many times just for the look. Visa versa work too but doesn't have the look.

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

Wow, now that's a good look.  So what you've got there is a lighter weight, compact grip cz with a longer slide for the full sight radius.  How does it function and what is the balance like?  Have you ever felt moved to carry it like that?  I already wanted a nickel or stainless full size, but that beauty there just made me feel a little more motivated.  Unfortunately the check book doesn't feel the same motivation.

Function is fine for both. Although I love the PCR I typically carry either the 75b with crimson trace grips or my Witness 45 compact. I'm a pretty big guy so conceal and weight with IWB is not a problem and holster fits those 3 and my CZ83 which I never carry. Also have scoped and open Kadets that fit both frames. CT grips do not hit the right spot with Kadets but are right on for both 9mm uppers.

Thanks for the food for thought.  I'm always intrigued by oddball applications, and that hybrid does make a beautiful weapon.  Love the grips too.

I never actually tried that when I owned a P-01, but I'm nearly positive that the P-01 frame is too wide.

If that were true the Kadet kits would not fit the P01

All of the typical variants - 75B, 75BD, 75B SA, 85B, 85C, 75 Compact, 75D PCR, P-01, SP-01 - use the same basic frame dimensions, and the slide rail dimensions will be identical.

Additionally, there is nothing different between a B slide and a BD slide apart from the rollmarks; the internals would be the same there - it's the internals in the frame that are different.

My CZ75 BD slide is different than CZ75B slides...  how can a decocker lever vs. a safety be "no different"?  even the red dot on the non-decocker models is a difference...

Uppers are the same no matter which 75 lower you have. Ie the 75b (safety) upper is the Same as PCR which is decocker.
