Couple pics of another cz82 refinish
« on: April 15, 2010, 11:00:51 PM »
Not in order, all pictures of a cz in pieces is the second one I did, it was for my brother.  Then, in there somewhere are a few pics of the pair I bought after the redo's.  I later took mine apart again an polished the trigger and a few other pieces  ;)

What did you use to blue these guns?

It was a Birchwood Casey kit.  The second gun got two coats but it didn't come out darker than the first gun which got one coat.  I realize it's a cold blue and about as inexpensive as one can get but would have liked a darker appeapance.  The next gun I will try another method.

Any weapon suggestions?

Very nice.  Was it you who sandblasted the grips (one of the pics looks it) to give it that rubberized look? They look really cool and "grippy".

A gunsmith in our area swears by this: http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=1072/Product/OXPHO_BLUE_reg_. He says as cold blue systems go, it's the best. It isn't as durable as rust blueing but he says it's better than Birchwood Casey. Of course the Birchwood paste you use is supposed to work better than the Birchwood liquid. I've never had any lasting luck with the liquid.

Yes I blasted one set of grips but was not the first on here to do so.  The other set of grips in the pic is spray-on bed liner.  Will try the other guys as far as blueing goes, thanks for the link.  The Birchwood stuff I used was the paste.

I like the bead blasted look myself. That's why bead blasted both.

pic 12 and 13 is correct.  The blasting media was actually a black crystalized material bought at Menards  ;)
