CZ-75B Compact
« on: April 18, 2010, 06:07:29 PM »
I have been eyeing one for about 3 months now . My gun shop has one for $499 and just dont know what to do ?  I dont have the cash but I want it . But at the same time I have a 75B fullsize.  I really want it but I am unsure of selling my Yugoslavian mauser to help fund it . It is a rifle that is in AWESOME condition . I hate to go on here and post crap like this but when I sleep at night , I think of that 75B compact. :)

Do you mean that it isnt that good or that I shouldnt sell my Mauser ?

CZ Compacts are still being made, Mausers are not. Save your money for the Compact and keep the Mauser.

chances are if you sell any of your guns you will regret it later.  also, unless youre willing to wait for the "right" buyer, you wont get as much $$ as you want from selling your USED toys.

save for it.

I must agree with everyone else on this. I would keep that Mauser. I was able to fund like 2 new guns by selling stuff I didn't want any more on eBay. I know what its like to have a CZ on the mind when you're trying to sleep. Been there many times my friend. The only cure is to get that gun you're dreaming about. lol  ;D

Sounds like you're describing the P01. Here's the deal:

CZ 75 Compact D (P-01): Alloy Frame, Accessory Rail, Decocker, Night Sights, extensive testing by the Czech military and was given a Nato Stock Number.

CZ 75 Compact D (PCR): Alloy Frame, No rail, Decocker, 3 dot Novak style sights, Loaded chamber indicator.

CZ 75 Compact: Steel Frame, No rail, Standard safety for cocked and locked carry (no decocker), 3 dot sights

Hope this helps. I myself just picked up the P-01 and I am waiting for an opportunity to break her in.  ;D

So now that we know you will be with one less kidney...  :o

Seriously, so now what are your planned use of one of these fine compacts?

Self defense? Home defense? Range shooting? Competition?
We all know that they are all dependable, so how important is a NATO number to you?

Is there any reason you need a rail for toy attachment?  Is weight a serious consideration?  Concealablity?  If you are going to do much upgrades, then why buy the more expensive firearm?

I love my PCR, have no need to hang anything off it, good weight, great sights, and durable as any other CZ, just my choice for range time and personal protection.  Think what your needs are and buy accordingly.

The one I am looking at has "CZ-75B Compact " on it . It has nothing showing "P01" at all . I am kinda confused . It has a decocker , accessory rail , and its frame runs the entire length of the slide . What is it ?

Yep. That's a P-01. The P-01 and PCR names are only used in the US market. The demand for them in the US spiked in 2008 so they diverted many pistols from the European market to the US. They just call them CZ 75 Compact D in the European market. My P-01 is also marked Compact D instead of P-01 and it was made in '08. If you look at the actual box it come in you will see the label is marked CZ 75 Compact D (P-01). Confusing I know. ???
