Gun Parts Corp are listing the Sphinx 2000  9mm  15 shot magazines.

I order one and it fit great, with the older 1984 and the 1991 CZ-75's Ive got.
So I ordered a few more, of this batch  one is a bit sticky but other 3 work great. Part # 1197790  Cost $ 24.95 ea

CDNN has Pre"B" mags if you look close...They are marked as 15 rounds, not 16.

Some of my Pre-B models actually accept current 16 round mags without modification.  Also, Jim Miossi can modify Pre-Bs to take current mags.

Would you mind posting a link?  I looked but I couldn't find the 15 rounders on the site.  Thanks

Hockler,

Thanks!  Do those look like original pre-B mags to you?

If anyone buys and can confirm from any of these sources they indeed fit pre-B's, I'm sure the lot here would appreciate it.  ;D

May not be what you guys are looking for, but I have a 84 Pre-b and the 18 round SPo1 mags work great in it. Factory 16 round and Mcgar 17 round mags will not fit in it though.

I keep seeing references to current B magazines not fitting.  What is the issue that prevents the new magazines from fitting the older guns?

I'm using my current 10 round mags from my Shadow in my 1994 preB and they are working just fine.  I did have two of them that very lightly rubbed along their length and were reluctant to drop free when empty so I lightly pinched them a couple of thou in my bench vise using card stock padding to avoid marring them.  It only took a couple of thou or so and now they drop free just fine.

Up here high cap mags are not allowed so this was all done using the 10 round mags with the long plastic base plates.  Perhaps that makes a difference?  I did notice that the new mags fit up into the frame with pretty much no clearance at all along the ledge of the base plate while the same magazines in my Shadow fit with a noticable gap between the base plate ledge and mag well lip.  Is that where the issue is?
Witty saying to be plagarized shortly.....

The best way to tell is to look straignt down the leading edge  of the magazine from the top.  If theleading edge is rounded, it is a pre B.  The lesser the radius, they are a later model.
