CZ 75 "Retro?"

Anyone nab one of these? They have B model internals, but look like the 2nd gen what what I've read. Supposedly less than 1,000 were made years back.

I was hoping to land one so parts would be plentiful (and Mec Gars would hopefully fit), but wound up with genuine pre-B I just had worked on anyways.

No, the Retro was a special-run CZ made a few years back.  It is 100% CZ-75B with old-style slide serrations and a rounded trigger guard.  They are not common.

I score one a couple years back, i never shot this one, it just seat in the safe, but i was just like the CZ-75 with the CZ-75B internals

I snagged one a few years back...it sits in my lineup between the true pre-Bs and the 75Bs (can't help myself...they keep following me home)...also have a couple of the Semi-Compact models...

The retro is very nice - CZ should really put them out again.  Better sights, takes new mags, simple safety, MUCH better finish.  Other than the DUMB FPB, they are wayyyyy coooool.

I also have one of these unusual and very cool Retro models, dated 2004. I found it at a local gun shop and had spotted the spur hammer from across the room, thinking at first that it was a pre-b.  I believe less than 800 were made. I would mention that 1) the proportions of the scalloping of the cocking serrations, 2) the shape and size of the round trigger guard, and 3) and the shape and styling of the Retro-only slide stop, are not identical to a pre-b gun, but all are close approximations. The Retro really is a beast of its own. I threw a set of Vintge Gun Grips waffle-style grip panels on mine just to confuse matters further LOL! I love it.

AFAIC, CZ should never have changed from the rounded trigger guard in the first place. It's the least attractive feature of a modern 75, in my opinion.

And I love the spur hammer!

The hooked trigger guard got popular for two handed combat shooting.  I tried it that way for a while when I had a 92.FS.  Stopped doing the finger hook though.  Interestingly, now , it's fallen out of favor, because the newer style is to ride your off hand finger snug under the trigger guard.  Which is how I do it now.

 As to spur hammer, shoot a few hundred rounds.  It makes my hand bleed from the bite pinch.  It bit my wife, who now refuses to shoot it.  It bit friends.  I use a round hammer now.

Yeah, and in terms of eye appeal in handguns, this was one of the worst trends ever. CZ was actually a bit late to the show with this, behind S&W and Beretta, to mention a couple.

Being as this old thread has been recently revived;

The CZ 75 Original, RSR Special  (aka 'Retro') was made for RSR distributors circa 2004.
Based on information presented on the internet, less than 1000 were made.

This one was purchased in 2004.
At the time I was looking for a full size frame for my Kadet kit (initially was on a 75C).
This was the least expensive, new, full sized 75 I had been able to find ($359).
The grips it came with sucked and they were replaced with these (much preferred IMO) repro waffle grips.
Hogue grip screws replaced the originals.

Edited to add: Mec-Gar, as well as CZ 25 round mags work just fine in this one.
