CZ pocket pistols
« on: October 14, 2010, 08:43:05 AM »
Is CZ currently making a pocket pistol in .380?
I have a CZ 83 and I really like it but it is too
heavy for pocket carry.

Nope, I believe the only CZ pistol that is currently in production and could be used for pocket carry is the RAMI 2075. It is available in 9mm or 40 S&W and with an alloy or polymer frame. Would probably need some large pockets for this too.

Actually CZ does make a perfect pocket pistol:

Unfortunately BATFE will not allow it's importation. It's the CZ 92 chambered in .25 acp.

They were imported mid 20th Century and known as the CZ 45, here's a pic of the one I own:

Additionally there were CZ Duo's also imported about the same time. Mine is pictured below. It, too was chambered in .25 acp:

It HAS been suggested to CZ, and the suggestion is making it's way up the chain of command, to bring manufacturing to the US to make the 92 here, and in 32 or possibly 380 as well. No word on any reaction so far...

It would be awesome if they make the 92 in 380 auto.
I recently picked up 2 CZ 83's from  Coles and I'm really
getting into CZ pistols, the 92 in .380 would cover all the
bases for me.

I think the platform is too small for 380, .32 is more likely. :(. But, .32 beats harsh langauge hands down. ;)

I've always felt  that since CZ owns Dan Wesson, they should have the capability to "enlarge" the 92 for the .380 (or maybe 9 x 18 or 7.62 x .25!) and make it right here in the good ol' USA! It could be the first MADE IN USA CZ!

so small guns can be produced in the states but they can't be imported into the states?
seems a bit silly...

but i guess the intratec protec is a clone of the CZ45/92

That explains a lot...

Yes, ecohal, meet the Gun Control Act of 1968 and it's infamous "point system" for importation. Many of the smaller pistol fail that "point test" due to size, sights, grip, etc., and are banned from importation, like the original Taurus Model 85 2 inch barreled 38 snub. But if they are made here, like when Taurus built their factory in Florida, they can be manufactured inside our borders, so the 85 is available everywhere. Taurus used to have to ship them in with 3 inch tubes, dismount the 3 inchers in the US, mount 2 inch barrels, and send the 3 inchers back to Brazil for the next shipment. Goofy knee jerk law passed in the wake of the Kennedy Assasination, does nothing to stop any crime whatsoever.

I mean i can kind of understand the impetus, but it seems so half baked. i mean, wasn't the kennedy assassination supposed to have been done with a high powered rifle of some sort. And if they're going to ban the importation of small guns why allow them to still be produced stateside? Oh, America. :/
clever little workaround by taurus though. hahahah.

GAC '68, NFA '34, all personal disarmament laws are politically motivated, not driven by intelligent design - or they would never be passed. GCA '68 was also based heavily on the Nazi law of 1938, but that's a whole 'nuther can of worms.
back to the original post, I would love to see CZ import some machinery and start making pocket CZs here in the US, as the subcompact and deep concealment auto market is exploding. Look at the LCP, taurus 738 TCP, Micro Eagle, Smith Bodygurad 380, Kel Tek 3AT, etc., I think CZ is missing a mark. Heck, I'd love to see the famous CZ70 reintroduced, upped into a 380.
