EEA Witness Compact vs. CZ 75b Compact
« on: January 12, 2011, 11:25:47 AM »
I'm debating between the 2, price difference isn't the issue....

I know the CZ-75b frame and trigger since I own  2 of those fullsize and a 85B. The EAA I handled at a gun show seems to have the better trigger IIRR but I keep seeing Witness's with cracked frames strings here and that concerns me.

My local gun shop can get both similar price to what I can get at the gun show this coming weekend for the Witness (dealer has had that for 2 shows so I figure he might still have it) and they say get the CZ..

This would be my "heavy" CCW weapon...I use a CZ-82 now but want something with a little more kick but in the 9MM family (cheaper to practice with than 40)

Thoughts??

The Witness are very nice weapons, they shoot very nice and do have a crisp trigger.

When making my recent purchase I considered both, I have a P-01 and I now carry a PCR 75 compact. Why?

I liked the CZ better. The witness would have been my choice had I not been able to find a CZ or had it been a lot cheaper.

I found the CZ, pretty much identical $$ so I went with the brand I know.

I am sure I would have been happy with the Witness but I would have always still wanted a CZ

Think that's part of the problem.....I'd still want the CZ....

Think I'll wait and see if that EAA is at the gun show and see how different the trigger is before I commit

Doubt there are enough to KEEP seeing frame issues but IF you did they where 10mm not 9mm

One difference the Witness has is the ability to put the safety to safe in any position, hammer down, half cocked or cocked where the CZ will only work in cocked position. Whether that is good or bad depends on you. Some don't like it because they think they will accidentally have it in safe and half cocked when they think it is ready to fire DA. IMO it's a matter of knowing your firearm and how you carry it.

Can't go wrong with either one.
When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"?

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

One other thing to consider is that if you decide to move up to a larger caliber.  The witness is just a conversion where the CZ would have to be a new gun and you would still be limited to .40.  Also witness mags are in the $25.00 range where the CZs are in the $40.00 range but the cz is probably more trouble free being a small frame compared to the witness large frame.

Having said that I picked the witness in 10mm.  Of course I have already acquired a blue square slide to replace the rounded wonderfinish slide and I haven't even bought the gun yet. I just have it reserved.

Now for my $0.02 worth
Think on this
A full size frame and a compact slide
AKA, a semi-compact, giving you even more versatility
Full hi-cap mags
Large frame grip means better control
With the full sized frame you can have a CCW Semi-compact and a nice target shooter using the same frame
Plus, the weight difference between the full sized frame and the compact frame really is all that much
Again, this is just my $0.02
Shoot safe, Den S
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what's coming after HIM !

Not so.

I just picked up a half dozen Mec-Gar 16 round mags from CDNNSports.com for $19.99 each.

I'm fond of the CZ and the earlier, "small frame" TZ/EAA pistols because, well, they are smaller framed!  ;D

I don't have big hands and the current EAA pistols just don't feel as good in my hand as the CZ/TZ's do.

If you're a big guy it probably won't matter to you either way...
