Definitive info on the 'RSR Specials' !!
« on: April 10, 2006, 08:34:53 AM »
Howdy!
Over the last few weeks we've been discussing the "RSR Specials" that CZ produced.  Seemingly, however, no one knew much about them.

I had sent an email to RSR, but was kind of blown off and was told to contact CZ.  This surprised me a little as I figured that if they were "RSR Specials" RSR would know about them, go figure!

Well, I did as the representative of RSR instructed and contacted CZ. Today I received a response!  And what a response, an email from the President of CZ USA herself, Ms. Alice Poluchova!

Here's what she said:

Quote
Dear Sir,
RSR purchased approx. 60 units of CZ 97 in satin nickel and 60 units of the dual tone CZ 97. At this stage we are not considering a bronze finish.

These were made in 2004 and for the moment we are not going to put them in production. It was a limited series and this is all that US received.

Take care
Alice Poluchova

That makes every "RSR Special" VERY SPECIAL!! Only 60 nickel and 60 dual tone--absolutely too cool!

We'll just make this a "sticky" for a couple of weeks.

Here's how I did it.  I put a WTB here on the CZ Forum's Classifieds as well as over at www.czshooters.com

In addition, I also posted a WTB on The Highroad's classified section.  www.thehighroad.org

It was on The Highroad that someone replied that a dealer near them had one on their shelf.  I contacted that dealer in Ohio, reached a deal, gave him my credit card number and arranged for my FFL to send his license.

I had my Satin Nickel "RSR Special" in less than 10 days.

In all honesty, I only got one response from these postings, but it was enough!

(The real "problem" was selling my glossy blue 97B to pay for the Satin Nickel one!!--it took me less than 3 days to do that!!)

What's the going rate on these "specials"? I ran across both a satin and the two-tone at the Marine Corps Exchange today for $490 each. Good deal or not?

Thanks.

Navy Guy!

That sounds like a great price!  As indicated above there were only 60 made of each.  I paid $xxx + 3% credit card fee + $25 shipping + $20 transfer fee.

If I had a "spare" $490 and a way to do the deal, I'd buy one of the two tones so that I could have one of each!

Pardner, these are unique and if you're looking for a CZ97 I'd run, not walk to the Exchange and lay my money down!!

Otto -

Thanks for the feedback. I wasn't exactly "looking" for a 97B, but there it was! I really like my CZ 75BD and I've heard great things about the 97B as well. I guess it's a good thing my wife is off on a "girls' weekend" -- she won't know about my new purchase until after she's had her good time!

I'll head over tomorrow and pick up the satin model.

Thanks again,

Jim

Big Fish!

The only advice I can give you to to post a WTB (wanted to buy) here on the CZF Classifieds and also on the classifieds at www.CZShooters.com and www.thehighroad.org

Someone may have one or know where one is for sale.  That's how I got mine!

Here is a picture of my "RSR Special" on the bottom with my matching CZ 75B.

Got mine a month or so ago.

Shot it, bleep thing puts all 10 rounds in a neat little hole about the size of 3-4 rounds at 25 ft.

You guys are making me sick! I bought a duo-tone 97B at Elmendorf Air Force Base about 2 years ago. I had no idea it was anything special. I put it in the safe and never shot it until last weekend. Wow! It shoots like a laser gun! I put about 200 rounds through it and decided it would be my new full-time carry gun. In fact, I just pulled it out of my holster when I sat down at this computer. So...just for fun, I looked up this site. I have 4 CZ pistols and 2 CZ rifles, but I'd never found my way here before. ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDING ME!!?? This pistol is one of only 60 made!!?? Now what am I supposed to do -- should I put it away as a "collector item" or should I continue to carry it?

Carry it, shoot it, love it!! :)

Unfortunately there isn't a very well developed CZ market among collectors...so shoot the hell out of it...that's what I'm doin'
