CZ Ejection port vs. 1911
« on: December 09, 2005, 07:52:57 PM »

Still waiting for my CZ97 B to clear CoBIS. 2 weeks and counting.....:(

Anyway, while checking out the CZ97B pics in this forum, I saw the pic of a CZ97B next to a 1911.

It looks like the CZ97 comes with a bigger ejection port than the 1911--Is this so? I hope so, 'cause, it pleases me to think that it comes with this as a standard feature--whereas (and not meant to diss the venerable and legendary 1911) I've heard that this is one of the first mods 1911 owners make on thier guns after purchasing them.

The only 1911's I know of anymore that don't come with lowered and flared ejection ports are replica's like Springfield Armory's WW II models.  It used to be common back in "the old days" to have the work done but it's standard fair for the guns to come from the factory anymore with the work already done.  Basically all the lowered and flared ejection port does is keep the brass from getting dinged with a little crease.  Even being creased the brass is still fine for reloading.

Congrats on your purchse of the 97

Yep even some of the replicas come with the opened ejection port. My G.I. has the smaller port but the only real reason to open it to me is if you reload because it dings your brass. Reliability is the same as far as I have seen. I do not like removing metal from something unless I have to.
