swamp fox ammo
« on: March 26, 2011, 07:23:44 PM »
i stumbled across a company called "swamp fox ammo"  (swampfoxammo.com)

they have some really serious 10mm loads.

they even have some .45 auto loads aproaching 630 pounds of muzzle energy.

the one load that caught my eye was the "FULLY SUPPORTED CHAMBER" load, with a 135 grain nosler JHP clocking 1700 fps/849 lbs muzzle enegy!!!

well holy crap if that aint hot as hell.

that outperforms the hottest "double tap ammo" loading, which is also a nosler 135g JHP but his does only, (only!?!) 1400fps/767 lbs muzzle energy.

question, would something of that power, the swamp fox 135 grain load at 1700fps/849lbs Muzzle energy do anything wierd to my gun, I.E.--> like , say, BLOW IT UP?

it is a 10mm tanfoglio, with a 22lbs wolf recoil spring, buffer tech buffer and hennings cone fit guide rod?

he shows a chrono video of the loads he does, and he dont recomend these types for unsuporrted chambers, but the tanfoglio does, any way in the video he inspects and measure the spent cases with a set of calipers, and all is good no more bulge than usual.

But does he supply chamber pressure readings? It's hard to believe he's getting something the bigger companies with larger test labs can't achieve. This seems to fall under the heading of "too good to be true".

But it is interesting. Thanks for pointing it out.

I don't believe that for a second.  The new 10mm...faster than a 44mag and the 357 maximum, and out of only a 4" barrel.   :-X

no he provides NILCH in the line of chamber pressure readings.

i mean could one acheive these nummbers (FPS/ME) with a "on the verge of exploding" carelessness?

IS it even POSSIVLE to make these numbers in a 10mm?

I hope some others pipe in here, because I'm a mere idiot that has one fact and a lot of opinions.  ;D

Two things occur to me....

? 10mm is an awesome round. Most of these are built up on an all-steel 1911 frame, like the Colt Delta Elite. But you have to remember that the all-steel 1911 was originally sized to fire the whopping big 45ACP. That means there's a LOT of extra meat (steel) left when you bore the chamber out for one of these "wonder cartridges" like 9x23 Winchester, 9x25 Dillon or 10mm. So there's usually more steel there than a purpose-built 10mm would have. Just .020" more steel wrapped around a high pressure chamber will do wonders for your level of safety. There are very few guns other than 1911s shooting major power factor for this reason.

? I already forgot the second.  ;D  :o

Sounds like a private reloader business using various factory components? They don't state the source of their brass.

I 'would' shoot Ultramax reloads from Cabela's I reckon, though I rarely buy any centerfire ammo anymore, because I know Cabela's has a lot to lose by supplying inferior products to the masses. Swamp Fox to me is an unknown.

As always caveat emptor.
Various firearms in .22LR, .380ACP, 7.62x25, 7.62x38R, 7.62x54R, 9mm and 45ACP. Lee reloading equipment

he states he is using a glock with a lone wolf barrel and a ultra heavy spring in the glock, to increase dwell time?
