Hogue grips (suggestions)
« on: April 24, 2011, 08:50:28 PM »
Hello, I'm new to the forum, and a new owner of a 75b.  I have been wanting to upgrade from the stock plastic grips to the Hogue wraparound rubber grips with finger grooves.  Does anyone have them on their pistols, or have tried them?  I've read that they don't have the palm swells, but I really like the finger grooves, as my other pistols have them, and I like the way my hands fit the pistol.  Any feed back would be great.

Personally the stock cz rubber grips are my favorite. They are very similar to the plastic grips without the slippery feeling. The hogue grips just make the grip bigger than it needs to be on the cz.

I really liked the CZ rubber grips but wanted to try the Hogues.  They are really nice though after a while I realized I missed the palm swell.  I thought I'd try them both.  I carefully cut and fitted the Hogue to the CZ grips, glued in place, now the best of both.  They don't look the best but I am not trying to impress anyone.  For that, I'd put on my custom fitted wood grips.

I bought them and hate them for the most part.  They feel kind of cool for a few minutes, but then you realize they throw off the grip that makes the CZ what it is.  Waste of $20.

I feel just the opposite, I love the Hogue grips on my 75b .40 and on my CZ clone. Will def be putting a set on my new 75B SA that I just bought on GB. It all comes down to personal preference !  Try a set out, if you don't like them resell them on eBay!
I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but I know how to use every one of them !!
CZ 75b .40
CZ 75b SA .40 (With lots of CZ Custom work)
CZ 75b Matte with CGW magic
CZ 452 17hmr varmint
CZ 452 Ultra Lux
And a long list of non CZ'S

Well, I got my Hogues in the mail today, and I am not disappointed.  I have rather large hands, feels good in my hand, more control, firmer grip.  They work for me, I have Hogues on my revolvers and my other pistol, but this is my first slim design pistol, for lack of other words, and I welcomed the feed back.  However, what one man won't like, another will, that's why there are so many choices.  Now, if the weather would cooperate, its out to the backyard range, and practice, practice, practice.

I have the ends of two fingers missing on my right hand and installed the Hogue rubber grips on my 75b 9mm after I found that a long period at the range made my whole hand sting. Now I will never be without them. Also, here in the Arizona desert when it's 100 degree + and your hand starts to sweat the rubber grips provide a no slip grip.
But as always, to each his own.
