Grip/Comfort vs. Looks
« on: November 23, 2010, 01:15:39 AM »
Ok, so don't get me wrong. I LOVE the look of Hakan's grips and am still thinking about getting a set for my 75b. But I am WAY bigger on function than looks. I still have my factory plastics on and I have been considering a set of rubber grips from CZ factory, but I am not sure. I definitely prefer the look of the wood. So I was wondering, what do you guys think about the wood for grip vs. the factory plastic or factory wood? Any thoughts or recommendations?

Also, are Hakan's grips similiar in thickness? I have fairly small hands (which is what got me introduced me to my 75b at my local gun shop in the first place as I was originally looking at a 92F, but HATED the thick grip).

I have had and still have several Marshallgrips.  With finger grooves and thumb rest I can grip even smooth grips better than stock grips.
When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"?

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

So no matter what I should probably get rid of the stock then?

A lot of shooters like the stock grips. If you are one of them there is no reason to change. If, however you like the look of wood you have some decisions to make. What kind of wood, what color, thickness, smooth or checker or half checker etc. Then there is the one or two month wait. Take a look at marshallgrips and the other sites and see if you can fall in love :)

I don't mind the original grips, but I AM going to pick up either the factory rubbers or a nice wood set. I just checked out the Marshal grips. They are VERY nice looking. How is the thickness compared to your original factory grips. By the way, what do you have? Like I said, I have a 75b and have small hands. I want a little better grip, but I am not sure. I guess my point originally (about the wood) was if the wood is slick (lacquered) feel or at least a little "sticky". You know what I mean?

You can get them in same thickness or thicker. Standard without palm swell etc would be close to factory. If you add fingers and thumb they are slightly wider etc.  (3) 75B, PCR, CZ83, Witness 45.  All the CZ related ones I have all with wood grips. PCR, 83 and (2) of 75B's are about the same as factory and one 75B is wider for competition. Jury still out on the wide ones. I like the smooth but the the 83 has some stipling in finger area and checkering in palm area which looks awesome but not my kind of feel. If you had VERY dry hands the smooth might not be fore you but for most it would be fine on any of the 75 series 9mm.  If you are thinking 40 or 45 you might want a better grip than smooth might give you. Email me if you want some comparison pictures.

I have been on his site, and while I believe both guys put out nice products, I think I actually like the design (stippling/checker pattern) better on Mr. Marshals'... Any pics of yours?

I have had a couple sets of Hakan's grips and they are fantastic, but if you have small hands I would suggest a set of G-10 grips from VZ.
