OK, ya got me. ***REAR SIGHT UPDATE***
« on: April 11, 2007, 10:27:50 AM »
Saw a CZ100 9mm for $225.00 so I bought it.  Only has one 10 round mag with it though. At that price I had to check it out.  It was cheaper than my CZ83.  OK, so, I have a few questions for you experienced CZ100 owners:

any luck finding a fixed rear sight to replace the adjustable?  I just prefer fixed sights.

I read in another thread the .40 S&W ProMag magazines work with 9mm.  Is that true or am I stuck buying CZUSA's overpriced mags?

Once all the trigger mods have been performed, honestly, how is the trigger pull/feel?

Should I replace the stock recoil spring with a stronger aftermarket spring?  What weight/model would you suggest?

Thanks,

Good price, even with only one magazine.

"any luck finding a fixed rear sight to replace the adjustable? I just prefer fixed sights."

It depends on which dovetail cut you rear sight uses. If the bottom of the dovetail is as wide and three of the cocking serrations on the side of the pistol, CZ-USA has a fixed rear sight which will fit. If it only covers two of the serrations, no go. The sight is plastic, but should be sturdy enough unless you intend to use the top of the slide as a hammer. I have several, but have not seen fit to install one yet. The adjustable sight is working well.

"I read in another thread the .40 S&W Pro Mag magazines work with 9mm. Is that true or am I stuck buying CZUSA's overpriced mags?"

That is true for the CZ75 Compact models. It does not hold true for the CZ100. I purchased two Pro Mags for my 40 S&W CZ100. I tried to load them with 9mm, but once I got 4 or 5 rounds in, any more would be ejected straight up. The mag lips are not as tight on the CZ100 mags. Sorry. Mine are several years old, however, so maybe someone with newer mags will have had better luck.

"Once all the trigger mods have been performed, honestly, how is the trigger pull/feel?"

The trigger pull on my 40 S&W 100 is as good as all but the best S&W DA trigger pulls I have tried. It is incredibly smooth with no stacking at the end of the pull, at least that I can perceive. I did go somewhat beyond the instructions at the top of this forum, however. It was well worth the time invested.

"Should I replace the stock recoil spring with a stronger after market spring? What weight/model would you suggest?"

I have replaced both of my 100's recoil springs with Wolff recoil springs for a Glock G19. 22# for the 9mm and 24# for the 40 S&W. Makes a noticeable difference. I also replaced the guide rod with an AroTek S/S model for the G19 also. A perfect fit.

Others will be along shortly to give you their opinions.

Congratulations on you purchase of what I consider one of the finest concealed carry firearms for the non-LEO among us. ENJOY.

bleep, it's the small dovetail.  I wonder if there's an aftermarket sight that will fit it.  Do you know off hand what the dimensions of the smaller dovetail would be?  Thanks for the other info too.

I never got around to measuring the size of the rear dovetail, and to be perfectly honest with you, I am not going to try to remove the rear sight from my 9mm pistol. I could take some measurements, but they would not be accurate to .001". I'll take a look after supper.

Good shooting.

lol, don't go through too much trouble.  I'll mic it when I get the pistol.  Just curious is all.  I'll bet there's a set of aftermarkets that'll fit it just fine though...somewhere.

I won't go to much trouble. I can't find my calipers. They're hiding from me again.

I hope you are correct about the sights. I have never read a post about anyone finding a rear sight that would fit the CZ100.

Good luck.

well, I got my CZ100 yesterday.  Took it to the range today.  The trigger took some getting used to.  It wasn't really that heavy, just really really long and had kind of a sponginess to it at the end just before it breaks.  Once I figured out where to index my finger on the trigger I was able to shoot it pretty well.  I just have the target at 10 yards since it was the first time I shot it.  I have a few strings of 5 or 6 rounds that were touching.  Even at 10 yards, that's still pretty impressive...to me anyway.  Well, it was a lot better than I thought it would be.  For what I paid, I think it was a good deal.  I wouldn't buy one of these for what they're going for new.  I'd probably pay an extra $100.00 and get a Springfield XD.
