FTE and slide issue
« on: October 29, 2005, 02:18:35 PM »
I put about two hundred fifty rounds through my 100 today, and for the most part loved every second.  However, I did have an FTE with the Winchester 124 grain 9mm.  Also, twice the slide failed to lock to the rear after the last round was ejected.  I blame it on the cheap ammo, since after switching to the CCI Blazer I had no such problems.  Any thoughts on the ammo situation?

I must say, though, that I was discouraged with the trigger at first, but afer now shooting it several times and going through several hundred rounds I have gotten pretty good with it.  My new 20# Glock 17 spring is in the mail, so next weekend I am looking forward to more time with my new best friend.  The CZ people have their claws in me.  My next purchase is a 75 compact .40.

Welcome to the sickness we call the CZ100. You will never recover.

How old is your CZ100? The reason I ask is that the older ones had followers without a ledge for the inner part of the slide stop to ride in. I believe the newer ones have the ledge, as do Pro Mags. I stopped using my factory mags because of similar problems.

I have also read that some pistols do not like WWB. They seem to think the rim and groove is slightly different than other brands of ammo. I have not had a problem with that ammo. My 100's have digested everything I have put in a mag. Just passing on what I have read.

I have to ask, why did you order a Glock G17 recoil spring? I discovered, some time ago, that the G19 recoil spring is a perfect fit. Have you tried the G17 spring before? Good luck with it, but before you fire your pistol with it, be sure to check and make sure that the longer spring does not prevent the slide from going all the way to the rear. You can check by removing the recoil spring from the slide assy. Replace the slide on the frame and run it all the way to the rear until the dust shield hits the frame. Mark that position and then install the G17 spring and try it again. If the slide can be retracted to the exact same position, you have a winner. If not, Get a G19 spring. Many of us have tested them and they work fine.

Anyway, good shooting. You have a fine pistol. Enjoy!

I appologize, I meant the Glock 19 spring.  I read it on this forum and thats why I bought it.  I will take you advice.

My cz100 was made in 2000.  I don't know if that is considered "older" or not.  I am, however, interested in getting a couple of new mags, but they are pretty expensive for the twelves.  With new mags and no more Winchester ammo, I hope I won't have anymore problems.  Thanks for your input, this place is a great resource...

If you are looking for the 12/13 round magazines, I believe CZ-USA is your only choice. Some will tell you that you might be able to use 40 S&W ProMags and load up 12 or 13 rounds of 9mm. That does work with the mags for the 75B compact. I happen to have CZ100s in both 9mm and 40 S&W plus I purchased two ProMag 40 S&W mags. I tried loading them up with 9mm, but the rounds just shot right out of the top. The mag lips were way too far apart. You could give it a try. They may have redesigned their CZ100 mags. If you decide to go the ProMag route and it doesn't work, get in touch with me. I will take them off of your hands.

As far as testing the recoil spring as I described, if you got a G19 spring, don't bother. I has been checked by a bunch of us. It will work fine.

Good shooting,

Mike
