My CZ 52
« on: August 17, 2011, 11:00:50 PM »
I have owned my CZ52 since 1991, probably put 5000 rounds through it. Had a Marine sniper put a magazine of 30 mauser rounds through a quarter hole at 25 yards. I can do the same at 7 yards, although not with military ball ammo. I have put all the add ons, nice wood grips, the extended slide release, the nut replacing the pin that was starting to get loose on mine after all those rounds.

But what remains is the worst sights, and my eyes have not gotten better.

So when I found out Novaks installs their sights on the CZ52, I was excited. I sent my slide in Monday FedEx, hoping to get it back within two weeks.

Will update as soon as I get the slide and Novak white dot sights back.

Nice.

Eagerly awaiting pics. I have a CZ52 and just plain love the thing.

I wish Novak would sell me just the sights. I have a milling machine and can install those myself.

THE thing I love the most about my CZ 52 is the sights. That tiny thin blade leaves such awesome wide light bars on the sides. I think that's what makes it so accurate - leaves less margin for error. My eyes are still pretty sharp for now, but it's good to know Novaks has sights for a 52.

I'd love to hear more about the upgrades you mentioned, especially the slide release.

Go to eBay or Google CZ52 parts, a whole lot of improved parts available. CZ52 been available 20 years in the USA now, when ammo is less than 10 cents a round for military HOT stuff and reloading is easy, the gun people make great stuff for it.

Paid $149 for my new Novak sights, almost what I paid for the gun 20 years ago. Still have nearly a 1000 rounds of the good 1986 surplus ammo that is not stub crimped. For longest time struggled with just two magazines. Now I have three original magazines all with Wolf +10% magazine springs and the follower cut for an extra bullet. These all work perfect.

Also have two of the teflon coated magazines from KeepShooting.Com. These are great and highly recommended.

I also have 2 crappy magazines from Midway, they have real weak springs. Purchased springs from Wolff for these, but they have no notch in the base for the spring tip to go, so I am going to work on these with my Dremmel tool, and cut the notch and polish the follower etc.

I'm definitely gonna look up the good mags and cheap ammo. Mine came with a 9mm Luger barrell, so that's what I mostly shoot, but I can't even reload 9mm for 10 cents/round. I got some bullets, brass, dies, and ammo with mine as well. I've been thinking about reloading some too.

It's a great pistol, I'd love to see a pic of yours with a modern sight on it. I bet that looks really cool.
