...others you don't. This was an "other" day.
I had to try out my newest cast bullet, the Lee single lube groove 124 grainer, lubed with Lee Liquid Alox. In retrospect, I wish I'd brought more of them, only had 40, testers of two different grain weights. Functioning was perfect, no pressure signs.
These are the first shots, and I realized that due to hot weather, work, monsoons, (and any other excuse I can lay a finger on), it was my first time to the range in well over a month. Whoops.
I was...not really impressed...

Now to be fair, after I got warmed up, and put out a Perhle police silhouette target, I got two decent groups with the new loads. I couldn't go out to the target, two nice older gents were shooting next to me. I took pictures with my camera phone - do you know how bad camera phones take pictures at a little over 10 yards? I thought I had captured the moment and went on shooting at the Perhle...nope. So, for once, I have to say take me at my word - they got better.

During cleaning I thought I had leading up and down the tube, but after I broke out my secret weapon, (Hoppes Number 9 solvent), it turned out to be 99.5% fouling. Actual leading was very, very minimal.
I switched to my trusty Smith 10-8, 38 Special. Yikes. It had been a LONG time since I had shot this revolver, and it was obvious. In order to protect the guilty, no pictures are available of those targets.

I did enjoy it, and the Perhle showed I can still hit a target, but when I tried PPC style, it all really fell apart. Oh well. Did you know it's possible to miss a full sized silhouette target at 10 yards shooting double action weak hand?

If I got into a gunfight with myself, I'd lose.

The two guys shooting at the same range were more interesting than my own shooting. One was shooting a bull barreled Ruger Mark II 22lr pistol Creedmore style at a 100 yard ram target, and hitting it every time. He asked me to spot for him once - nice shooting!
The other gent was shooting the new Mossberg AR15 22lr clone, a nifty polymer rifle with all the look and feel of an AR-15, but at a price far, far less -he said he'd seen them for $250. Interestingly enough, he said they need 500 rounds through them to stop jamming, and he wasn't there yet, but the rifle is wicked accurate. His targets showed the truth there.
So, as they say, a bad day at the range beats snot out of a good day at work. Loading more of the new 9mm bullets, and back out tomorrow morning!
