Here is mine.  Four coats of Jasco paint remover, wire wheel, maroon Scotch brite wheel, 4 coats of Mark Lee Express Rust blue.  I took it to the range and it is my most accurate pistol except for an NM 1911 I built.   Next is fix/buy some grips.  George M.

Thanks. This is the first time I have tried to cold blue a gun. First time at breaking it down completely also. Was worried about putting it back together, but it wasn't too hard.

I recently found this forum while searching for info on slide lever springs. I've enjoyed reading many threads and obtaining info shared here.

Anyway I've had my CZ82 for a couple years, and refinished it soon after getting it, as it was pretty rough. Despite the initial external appearance, it has performed like a champ.

The grips were thinned a little bit and stipled, then hit with krylon flat khaki. The frame and slide were painted with brake caliper paint and baked to give some extra hardness and finished with a clear coat. The color used was called "cast iron" and gave a nice almost parkerized look. It has held up pretty well but needs to be touched up every now and then, because I use it with a kydex holster and it tends to rub on the bottom edges of the slide. Please excuse the cell phone camera, its all I have at the moment.

Hey Mike that looks great, welcome to the forum.  Did you do all that stippling by hand?  How does it feel?

Yep, we're crazy alright.  Nice job towboater.  I am going to order some nice OEM grips and then play with the issue ones.  Maybe bead blast them or etch with Acetone, TCE,  or MEK.  George M.

Thanks. I did it by hand with a soldering iron. It was a little sharp at first but just some light sanding took off the sharp edges of the holes. It feels great and gives a good firm grip without any hotspots.
