firing pin question
« on: July 17, 2005, 10:42:18 AM »
Hello.
I have a cz 100 40.I notice on the firing pin, towards the front, just behind the squared off part where the spring retainer goes, there is a very small step.I looked at the exploded parts view in the owners manual and it seems to show it.Can someone tell me what that step is for?I polished a little on the firing pin and wondered if I should have polished that. Thanks for any help.

sonoma,

Welcome to the Forum!

Here is an image of the front of the firing pin of the CZ 100:

I was not sure which "step" you were referring to. Step 1 is the shoulder upon which the firing pin spring (#16) rests; as best as I can deduce, step 2 seems to act as the forward bearing surface for the firing pin as it slides within the firing pin channel.

I do not think any harm can come from lightly polishing "step 2" (assuming, of course, that is what you were referring to).

Thanks dleong.I was referring to step 2 in your picture.I just got a 100 and like it a lot.I found this site a few days ago and learned a lot from some of the great posts on here.
I just sanded with 2000 grit sand paper and that does not take off much but it does take off a little and since the step was so small to begin with I started wondering about it.(I'm a newbie to cz pistols.)(Or working on any type of pistol)Thanks again.
