VZ24 is a military rifle with 23.25 barrel, made for the Czech army and export orders from 1924 onwards. It was copied by other manufacturers such as FN and Radom and became the de facto standard Mauser military rifle of the between wars period. Rifles of the World, 3rd edn , published by Gun Digest books is a good source of information, and probably a bit cheaper than Olsen's book.

Your rifle would obviously be a sporting conversion. No surprise that a VZ24 is considered to be one the best Mauser actions for such! Look after it and enjoy!
A good shot at close range beats a 'hit' at a longer range.
