Coolbox,

Right now, I can't offer a .318" width version since the pricing is based on setting up for a production run.  If this new hammer proves successful, and there is enough demand for a TS version, I certainly wouldn't rule it out.

@schmeky, looking forward to a quick launch!

@Stuart, thanks. Yes, it should work, only the 'wide' hammer looks 'meaner', and gives more surface for gripping during decocking. I realized could actually just ask schmeky to cut the hooks on a factory shadow or factory TS hammer! But the race hammer looks so much more 'cool'.

I agree 100%!  My wife has a Duo Tone 75B coming and I can't wait to see how this hammer compares to the CZC Competition hammer on my Satin Nickle.  Knowing Schmecky...top notch!

no51,

I hope very soon.  As soon as I sign the contract for a production run (should be this month), I will have a delivery date.

I am a little confused. I sometimes shoot a revolver, and in researching trigger jobs it seems to be the opinion that a lighter hammer will allow a faster hammer speed. The speed would cause more reliable ignition than a heavy hammer moving slower. The lighter hammer would allow a lighter hammer spring to accelerate the hammer at the same speed as a heavy hammer/spring combination to achieve the same result. The  Cajun hammer is heavier to allow a lighter spring and reliable ignition. I would like some opinions on this from the pros and anyone that has experience with this.
By the way, the Cajun hammer looks really good. If I can pry some money from my wife, I might need one!
One last question. Will this hammer be legal for IDPA ESP?

dennisp,

You may be thinking of lock time vs hammer inertia.  You're a sharp guy dennis, I like your post, but try this:  get a small nail started in a piece of wood.  Take a small hammer and see how deep the nail goes with each blow.  Take a bigger hammer and use the same speed to hit the nail with.  The outcome will be predictible.

My goal with the Race hammer is to allow the lightest possible hammer spring, for 4-5# DA pull, and still set off a primer reliably.  Think about that for second . . . a 4-5# DA.  We're doing it now, but we are primer restricted (Federals).  The hammers used in CZ's weigh around 4.0 oz, my machined Shadow hammer is 4.4 oz, and I plan on my Race hammer coming in a 5.0 oz.  That's a 25% increase over stock, which would be similiar to having a 25% stronger hammer spring.

Don't know about it being legal . . . .

Keep in mind that mass and speed alone do not determine the energy that an object moves at.

In an ideal world, Kinetic Energy = 1/2mv^2.

Wow, math! I cant do that.
I don't want to go way off topic with hammer weight, but here is a link to a different forum that explains what I was referring to. It's interesting reading if nothing else.

I am guessing this would be one of those "more than one way to get to the same place" things.

I don't see why not. I can use whatever hammer I want in my Springfield 1911.

Any time table on this new fandangled hammer? I am wondering what sort of ridiculous single action trigger pull I can attain with a lighlty tweaked 8.5 lb mainspring and this hammer :). It is already ridiculous with an 11.5 lb spring an a CZ custom shop hammer.

Waiting on a final version to verify dimensions.  It's supposed to be in the CNC mill this week, but I haven't received a confirmation on that.  This has been an exercise in persistence and perseverance.

This has been an exercise in persistence and perseverance.

working with outside contractors can be a exercise in patience.

you care about a project and you just hope that they care as much as you do. and then trying to fit your run of parts into their schedule.
