I am in the market for a CCW, is the Rami the right one?
« on: February 09, 2012, 01:06:37 PM »
Hello All,

I am trying to pick a CCW 9mm and the Rami has got me interested.  I would like to get the BD verson and alloy frame.

Can someone please post some pictures and side by side comparisons?  I can't seem to fins any and the ones I do find are the marketing photos.

Thanks for your help, please also post any issues or problems that you have had and your general impressions.

Thanks,
-Jason

The RAMI will work well.  They are accurate and reliable.  Another pistol to look at is the S&W M&P Compact in a variety of calibers.

I have an alloy .40 cal Rami and love it. They are every bit as accurate as the full sized models. I actually shot a sparrow off my 25 yard target with mine while out shooting about 6 months ago. Just vaporized it. They can use the full sized magazines from either a 75 or 75 Compact. Mine has adjustable sights, which are a little ungainly for CCW work, but they havent caused any issues. I can say that the Rami doesnt fit my hand as well as my 9mm Compact does, but its still a nice fit. I have been able to use all of my 75 series holsters with it as well, even though it is shaped differently.  Check out this website for comparisons. Good luck locating a BD model, they are very hard to find in an alloy frame.

Damron Pawn Shop, 1-806-322-7296, just got 2 9mm Rami BD guns a couple of days ago. They are in Amarillo, Texas, if that will help you out.

Great thanks for the replies.

I am still in the "waiting period" for my permit so I have a little bit of time to decide.  They are hard to come by and I didn't want to get one sight unseen.

Thanks for your help!

I guess I should add that I have had several Kahrs, an lc9, and a g26.

I found that I like reliability, Da/Sa, capacity, and hammers, so I carry a Rami.

Do they ship to an FFL?

The 2075 RAMI is a good firearm, but it's not very small, so you need to consider how you intent to carry.

It's almost as wide as the full size CZ 75.  It uses the same double stack magazine design.

I tried mine with an IWB holster from high noon holsters and find it to just be too thick for comfortable carry, especially when I sit down.

I know others will disagree but that's my $.02.

I am considering a Ruger LCP for lightweight concealed carry and keeping my RAMI as my vehicle weapon.

The Rami is FAT, it is actually wider than a 75 series due to the alloy frame. They are still a great gun for CCW, and way more ergonomic than a Glock, Sig or XD. It is not a deep concealment gun though. I carry mine in a Crossbreed holster and it is very comfortable (and comforting as Clint Smith would say).

Great, keep us posted on your gun, I took mine apart and cleaned/greased the rails, and wiped out the bore before I shot it. Load the mags when you get the gun, and leave them loaded until you shoot it. My springs were very strong. I have shot around 150 rounds of Wally World Winchester 100 round value target ammo through mine without any problems. Damron's got 3 in a couple of weeks back, and I jumped on one of them. As I told you earlier, the BD model is impossible to find right now. Glad you were able to snag one, they are neat little guns. CZ pistols are very addictive, get yourself a Kadet next time. They are a blast to shoot. :)

Again nice job to Damron's Pawn!
