On the fence, Kadet Kit or Kadet Pistol?
« on: March 12, 2012, 04:10:17 AM »
I don't have a 22lr pistol, so it might be nice to have one.
But I already have a P06, and a soon maybe a SP01 Tactical.
The kit can save $$$, since I already have a CZ to put it on.

But I worry about the kit's reliability, it might not be as good as the dedicated pistol.

Thoughts?  :T

The Pistol and the ?Kit? are pretty much the same animal
The Kadet Pistol is a Kadet Kit, mounted on a ?B? style frame, but with a pre ?B? sear and no Firing Pin Block Lever
It has a slightly nicer Trigger then a standard ?B??.BUT, the Upper can still be mounted on any compatible Frame
The Kit mounted on your DTD shooter gives you cheep Trigger time on that Frame
My vote is on the Kit
Then you can spend the balance on more ammo
Hope this helps

My son and I finally got the chance to shoot my brand new Kadet pistol yesterday. It was an outdoor range which also had a plinking target area strictly for 22s. We spent more time in this area (about 400 rounds?) than at the other range areas. All I can say is that I've never had so much fun with a 22 pistol. It was well balanced and very accurate. I also liked that I didn't have to switch slides on my 75B stainless while shooting at the regular range.  I was able to easily shoot both.  ;D  If you have the funds, and can find one, get one. I voted for the pistol.

My Kadet 2 kit (on my 75B) cycles everything from Rem sub-sonics to Stingers to Federal 555 bulk. That's better than my 10/22 which was choking on Federal 555 today. I'm not liking the three dot sights too much, but reliability is everything I could have asked for.

If you have the extra $$ get the pistol. You will shoot it all the time and when you are done shoot the SP01 and then shoot the kadet some MORE while it cools down  ;). The real pay off is when friends join you -- you still have one to shoot for yourself.

I have 3 "conversion" type units and all of them got their own host eventually.

I get the simplicity of having a dedicated Frame for the Kadet Upper
BUT, the real beauty of the Kadet is mounting it on your DTD shooter and getting the cheap Trigger time on that Frame
Cheap practice with the Trigger pull and break of the Frame you shoot the most
Trigger, Target acquisition and Mag changes?.Practice, practice practice?..Cheap, cheap, cheap
AND, It only takes a couple minutes to swap out the Uppers

Not sure what DTD means..... ?

If I want to drill Trigger, Target acquisition and Mag changes (and Draws) with a defensive handgun cheap I would do all of them dry. If I want to practice with a defensive handgun I am going to use That handgun. My Dad taught me: "Dance with the girl you take to the party". There is no comparsion to shooting a 22 and a 9; the recoil, the timing are too different to me.

For me 22s are about the enjoyment of shooting, trying out new stances, grip holds and just having fun. Every shooter should have a 22, full or conversion, to play and practice new techniques on.

"Day to day" shooter
Daily Carry (CCW), Service, Duty, Personal Defence, etc
Whatever you want to call it
