Owner of a new CZ75B 9mm : Help buying CGW parts
« on: March 16, 2012, 04:10:14 PM »
Been reading alot of the topic's and threads throughout the forum.

I currently have small hands and a small grip.

So far from what I gathered, I will be buying (I think) the following items from CGW;
1.  FP-RP : Carbide FP Retainer (extra safety for dry-firing)
2.  Extreme Reach Reduction Kit along with the Trigger Pin
3.  RP-TRS - Reduced power trigger return spring (to help with the trigger)
4.  RP-FPS reduced power firing pin spring &  RP-FPBS - Reduced power firing pin block spring
5.  EXT-FPB - Our extended firing pin

Any thoughts or comments to improve the above list will be much appreciated.

I only use it for target practice, and I know CZ parts are very scarce, hard to get and delivery time is very long in CANADA.

Welcome to the forum!

Dave, owner of Cajun Gun Works, is a member here [Schmeky] and is very well respected. I've had only good dealings with him. I'm sure you can email him directly for advice on what your needs are, like what you want to end up with, and he will give you good advice. Honest guy, won't steer you wrong.

Happy shooting to you!

If you use snap caps you may not need the "Carbide FP Retainer (extra safety for dry-firing)"

Use the $$$ from the FP retainer on a CGW hammer for your model and tritium sights/competition front rear from CZ custom.

It seems I cannot order from CZ since they cannot deliver to Canada.  Not easy to get stuff delivered here.

I heartily agree with Stuart on a hammer swap. The difference is simply night and day, remakrable. My SA pull weight went from about 6 lbs down to 3.5 lbs by adding a Competition hammer.

If CZ won't ship gun parts to Canada then that's even more reason to call on Dave at CGW. Is that CZ Custom that won't ship gun parts to Canada or CZ USA, or both? They're different companies of course. Certainly neither can ship handguns thanks to Canadian firearms laws, but that may not apply to miscellaneous parts.

Contact Dave at CGW, he'll get you fixed up!

Looks like the choice is made for you! I have serious respect for CZ Custom and have had great dealings with everyone there; far, far above average for 'Customer Relations' because they really do care about us!

Just the same I was treated very well by Dave at CGW and I'm sure you'll have no problems there at all, provided there's no Can-Am laws against him shipping parts to you. Seems to me I emailed him very late Friday night with a problem, his reply was in my email hopper on Saturday morning. I ordered needed parts and received them maybe Tuesday? Can't beat that!

I got the same level of service from CZ Custom, and I still think Rob hand picked my pistol  :) Stupid happy with it...

I totally agree.  Just ordered some smaller parts frlm him and he was great and answered many of my emails.  Dave is a really good guy.

I  have yet to order a comp hammer and shear since wasn't sure I needed it.   I ordered the springs and errk trigger since I have a small grip and short fingers.

Won't the new trigger and springs already help out or do I need to replace triggerr springs, etc plus comp hammer.

Also, evrn though i am. Great with my hands.  I felt intimidated wuth replacing the hammer.  Any links with puctures to change thus hammer so I can look into it is much appreciated

I can't advise anything on the trigger at all because mine is untouched. However a hammer change, in my case adding a CZ85 Competition hammer #10035 to a CZ75-C cut the trigger pull weight almost in half. Can't remember for sure now if it was called 'Competition' hammer or 'Combat' hammer, just go by the number, or whatever Dave suggests. He has kits too.

I've got a [long] lifetime of experience with complex machines assembly, repair etc. and a huge amount of 'hand tool' type experience. For me the hammer swap wasn't that bad using slave pins when I removed roll pins, to keep parts alignment, and having proper punches. Dave has the right punches too.

There were some parts of the swap that were intense, rather challenging in the 'walk & chew gum at the same time' way. Persistence is really all it took, not vast skill or knowledge. I wasn't comfortable fitting the safety to work with this hammer, but I took the leap and was blessed with a good result. There's other options besides modifying safety, you can look into that to decide which suits you best.

If you search through the stickies in various places all over this forum, you'll find some excellent pictorial guides plus all the related technical info. Also within individual forums there's many threads where guys have asked about 'how to' on this stuff. The information is here, all you need. Take a long hard look and decide whether you want to jump in, but it certainly is doable!

Cool! I know it will work out just fine even if it's a little frustrating for a while, and it will be. The nice part is that it doesn't get to point of painting yourself into a dark corner, trapped & hopeless. Even when it gets testy with the springs & stuff you CAN DO IT, it just may take more time and more patience but you won't end up in defeat. Patience bro! It's well worth it, believe me.   :)

Spirit1, if I am already buying CGWs ERRK trigger and springs (hammer, recoil, etc) to cut down on the weight of the pull and which also shortens the distance/moves the trigger closer.

Out of curiosity, What would the comp hammer & new sear give me more than the above?.

Sorry, no idea at all. I've only done the one CZ as described. I'm quite sure Dave knows. Far as I know from what I've heard around here, what he says will work on a CZ, works on a CZ. Follow his advice, not mine!
