97B Range Report and Question
« on: May 21, 2012, 12:14:34 AM »
I finaly got a chance to take my new 97 to the range. Overall very impressed.  I put 200 rounds through it and had 2 problems within the first hundred or so.  Twice an unfired round stove piped!  i have never seen this before and it baffled me.  After a bit of pondering I think I figured out that while cycling, the bullet (FMJ Ball) hit the sharp bottom of the feed ramp and popped upwards from the slides force.  The only mags I have are the 2 factory mags that came with the gun and after looking at where the top round in the mag lies while in the gun and where the bottom of the feed ramp is, I can't figure out how it happened.  I can see on the bullet where a chunck was almost sliced off from hittin the feed ramp...  Anyone ever see this before?  Any suggestions?  I am wondering why the feed ramp is so shap at the bottom.  My SP01's ramp is very rounded at the bottom.

I had a few issues with my 97 feeding as well, particularly prevalent with hollowpoints.  I shipped the barrel to CZ USA and they did a feed ramp job to it...no more issues and no cost to me, just had the pistol down for a couple weeks.

They're customer service is really pretty great, so consider that as an option.
