PCR vs. PCR Improved vs. P01

My town's little gunshop orders its cz pistols from RSR wholesale.
From what I understand they(RSR) have just about every cz in stock except the po-1(already checked). I also had talked with Mike at cz usa who told me the pcr was not dropped. The pcr is a sweet carry gun and plenty accurate but I still want to look at the po-1 and check out the light rail. The only other cz with a light rail is the 100 series and the m-3(or any other tactical light in the USA that I know of)will not fit it.
I can't say from experience about the po-1, but cz would be hard-pressed to make any major internal improvements over the existing pcr design. This gun is a shooter.
I believe that cz has contract obligations it must fill at home as their top priority.

Well, I did manage to get the LAST PCR which CZ Connection had, Phil found it while setting up for a gun show this weekend.  I was there when he tried to order a PCR from CZUSA and they said it was no longer available. Phil ordered several P01s on the spot, but it will be sometime before they arrive according to CZUSA when I called them last week (August is what CZUSA is saying for the P01).  Now I know several other shops have a few PCRs remaining (at least they are still advertising).  All I know is that the PCR was hard for me to find.  Maybe it's just to drive up the costs on the remaining PCRs or just  to liquidate the inventory. Who really knows.

I just bought a PCR from www.krausewerk.com/ , it was one that he had in stock.  Filled the paper work on 4/16, picked it up 4/26.  I have a review in the Reviews section BTW. You might try giving them a call to see if they have any in stock.  Won't be cheap though, I paid close to retail for mine.

To:        info@cz-usa.com
Subject:        From WWW: pcr

This message has been sent from your website

Has the pcr been discontinued in favor of this new po-1?

[CZ-USA]  Yes, the new pistol is to be the replacement for the PCR, and
is identicle to it with the exception
of the M3 rail.

I apologize. I had talked with cz about the po-1 and pcr by phone about 8 weeks back and was told that the two models would "co-exist".
A quick e-mail was sent yesterday to cz-usa and they responded back in 24hrs with the above message.
Things change.

If the PCR has been discontinued (and I don't know how long the PCR was in production, but I believe it was not for very long) in favor of the PO-1 (and I favor the appearance of the PCR) how far off is the US introduction of the CZ BD Compact "Carry"?

CZ-USA MUST be listening!!!

Enquiring minds NEED to know!!!

Hi folks,

I JUST picked up my first CZ-75, went all out and got a PCR.  I was not aware of the shortage but now that I think about it I only saw the one I purchased in the store.  Very nice pistol and the second CZ product I have purchased and loved.  (452 Special .22 rifle is the other)

Anyway, I did a search on www.gunbroker.com and found about 20 PCR's still listed.  They are all being sold by "The Gun Shop" in Atlanta, Georgia.

All have "buy it now" options at $399.

Get em while they are still around.  :)

You can foreget about the PCRs listed by The Gun Shop.  I bought the last PCR that Phil had, he just hasn't cancelled all the Gunbroker.com adds.

Hmm.

<shrug>

Sorry if I got anyones hopes up with the ad availability.  Thanks for the heads-up PCRit!

I'm trying hard not to editorialize on the subject..  the vendor should probably take the time to zap those adds fairly soon (last one ends on 5/17).  Someone who executes a 'buy it now' might take issue with winning an auction for product that he can't get.

Nuff said.  :)

I noted the original poster asked about 3 firearms, the PCR, PCR Improved, and the new P-01.

I have a '01 PCR and am familiar with the P-01.

What is a "PCR Improved"?  I couldn't find anything about this version on the CZ website.

The PCR improv was a hypothetical cross breed between the PCR and P01..like a P01 with Novak style sights.

Personally, I find the advantage to the full length guide rails..not the cheese light rail.  Also, if the trigger is close to a CZ83 they have done well.  Ill still get a PCR...I love the novak style sights.
Shoot well

only dif i noticed was the rail.
which only has groove start on each side as opposed to the full width. owner said they had tried the M3 light
& it wouldn't work as it needed the full width groove.
Perhaps the Czechs have their own?

According to CZ-USA, "The P-01 supports any M3 compatible product."  And as far as I know no the Czechs do not have a special M3 made just for them.

The pic on the site shows the M6 light attached:
