Muzzle flip

I've heard this said often - here is a pic of a gentleman shooting my SA vz-58 at a recent gathering at my local range - note where the ejected empty is and that the rifle is back on target already. No muzzle brake. Load is 27 grains of AA 1680 under a 123 grain Hornady SP bullet.
Is this result atypical?
