Good for them.  Personally, I'm not a fan of open carry at all (as far as actually doing it) - I see no reason to advertise and put people on the defensive.  But just because I'd never do it (outside of the gun club), I certainly won't fault a state for legalizing it.

Congrats to the great state of OK. Now Texas needs to pass open-carry in the next session in 2013.

I'm currently in Tulsa and grew up in OK and was overjoyed when it passed.  Unfortunately, I won't be here long enough to open carry my glorious 97B.  I might be heading back to AZ where I happily openly carried my Hi-Power into left leaning health food stores  O0
Plenty of thanks to the Oklahoma 2nd Amendment Association and there efforts at getting this passed.

Old news.

http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=47318.0 (From May)

Just remember folks, open carry only applies to folks with carry permits.

This law pretty much resulted from efforts to keep CCW holders from getting jacked up on 'brandishing' charges if their gun was visible somehow.

Effective Nov 1.
Apparently, Texans with concealed carry permits are honored by reciprocity while in OK.  They too can openly carry.

Oklahoma has reciprocity with pretty much any state that issues a permit.
So if you feel like open carrying, come for a visit!  ;D

I would hope states aren't enforcing their laws in such a way that they're prosecuting CCW holders unintentionally "brandishing" their weapon, but it would certainly make me feel better to know that it's not illegal to have your weapon showing just in case your shirt rides up a bit in public.  Here in NC, open carry technically isn't illegal, although there are charges to the effect of "carrying to the terror of the public."  I've never heard of such charges being brought against CCW holders who accidentally showed their weapon, and I've heard numerous accounts of folks in small towns open carrying.  I just wouldn't try it in downtown Raleigh.  ;D

While I won't open carry, the fact the state accepts it legally demonstrates full support of the second amendment.
Oklahoma, you folks are OKay.
