I am not trolling. I was just at a gun shop sale today ready to buy a cz 75b, when the salesman talked me out of it, I believe, unintentionally. I have been lusting after this pistol since I started doing research on what would make a best first 9mm and after handling it - fell in love.
This particular one had a wee bit of side to side slide-frame play, whereas another I tested before did not. He explained to me that these pistols will all get looser between the frame and slide after a few hundred rounds and then continue to get sloppier. He mentioned the Shadow (which correct me if I'm wrong, is almost identical to the cz 75b less 1 saftey and a heavier nose). Mentioning that IPSC guys who use the Shadow and go through 10,000 rounds a year will sometimes go through 2 or 3 of those pistols during that time - alluding to a typical lifespan of less than 4000 rounds. I asked if other brands were like this - he said that these were probably the most notorious for short lifespans.
Finally, he mentioned that he has personally witnessed on more than one occasion the Shadow enter a full auto burst for a few rounds and an IPSC event - caused by wear of some parts apparently.
I left unhappily because I have not held another pistol to this date that feels as good as the 75b does. This guy works at a gun shop full time and seems to hang out at IPSC events, so I took what he said seriously. I'm just starting to get into this hobby guns are more expensive where I live than in the US so buying another when it wears out after 4000 rounds is not appealing. Does anyone know anything about what the salesman told me?
